Middle Eastern Palaeolithic sites

[edit]

Hello Prof. I was wandering if you could help out with creating and improving pages for Middle Eastern Palaeolithic sites. I recently combined the pages for Skhul and Qafzeh hominids, but I am unsure of the exact locations of these caves. One site says they are a few metres apart, but other maps show it more to be a few kilometres. It would also be nice to add more info on the different individual hominid specimens found at these sites, and add more pictures.

Another place which does not yet exist on Wikipedia as a separate page is Hayonim Cave. This seems to be a very important site with Mousterian, Aurignacian and Mesolithic layers. [1] [2] [3]

I am interested in these sites because "non-Africans" have been shown to have 1-4% Neanderthal ancestory and there is suggestion that hybridisation may have taken place between moderns and Neanderthals in the region.

I might start to make some of the pages in the meantime.

Guineafowl

[edit]

Judging by the race of this guineafowl the locality may be northern Tanzania, rather than Sabi Sands. If the location is corrected it will add value to the image. JMK (talk) 13:55, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
