Hi PeterbiltDude! I noticed that you recently made an edit at List of American truck manufacturers and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. –Skywatcher68 (talk) 00:49, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at List of American truck manufacturers, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 02:19, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

LaFrance-Republic moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to LaFrance-Republic. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. CycloneYoris talk! 06:37, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
- I have temporarily ec move protected this draft to prevent premature re-submission to pagespace and performed a few fat finger mistakes in my haste. AfC templates will be applied so we can get this material sourced and reviewed before it again appears in pagespace. No particular interest in how this comes out (delete vs keep), but since this work is completely unsourced, I'd like to see this improved in draftspace first. Thanks for your many contributions in this largely uncovered subject area
[edit]Welcome! A misunderstanding or two aside, it appears you are editing in good faith, and I'm sorry if the notices above seem overbold. Thanks for your patience. Just like in real life, English Wikipedia has a number of rules of the road which allow editors to create and build pages rapidly without unduly slowing others. No need to rebuild a page from scratch; LaFrance-Republic was moved temporarily again to our "yard" at Draft:LaFrance-Republic where it can be serviced and made safe before it's allowed again on the information superhighway. Please feel free to interact with me in this thread so we may iron out any issues you need help with. I'm adding an WP:Articles for creation template so that other wikipedians may see your work and properly review it for re-addition to the article space. If you have questions or comments, please add them below. Thanks again for joining us. BusterD (talk) 13:00, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- As a show of my good faith I have located some newspaper sources from the era and added them as formatted citation. These should help get you started. BusterD (talk) 13:35, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Brodesser Motor Truck Co.
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Brodesser Motor Truck Co. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Cline Trucks
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Cline Trucks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.constructionequipment.com/topical/historical-equipment/article/10708323/cline-off-road-truck . For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. twisted. Edit to a CSD
[edit]Hello, PeterbiltDude I see you recently made an edit regarding a page that I marked for speedy deletion per G12 (a.k.a. unambiguous copyright infringement) where you added a reference. I presume you did this assuming that by citing the text you copied, it no longer becomes a copyright violation.
On Wikipedia, you must write in your own words for content that comes from copyrighted material. Meaning that even of you cite the text you copied, it is still unlawful.
Either way, your edit impropely cited the content (Construction Equipment) and I wanted to show you how to properly cite (on the visual editor)!

To add a citation using the "Cite" button, place your cursor where you want to add it in the text. Then on the "Add a citation" dialog, select the appropriate tab. |
If you source edit you can look at WP:INTREF3 for how to do it on there. If you have any questions, ask away! Happy editing! twisted. (user | talk | contribs) 22:20, 10 April 2025 (UTC) Your submission at Articles for creation: sandbox (April 11)[edit]![]()

We want civility and PeterbiltDude isn't doing his part
[edit]Dude! People have been very nice to you so far. I personally sourced LaFrance-Republic, and you resubmitted it on AfC without even so much an acknowledgement, much less a thank you. Now you're fussing with other good faith reviewers. Wikipedia is a collaborative editing environment, and you aren't doing your share. At this point you are heading for your first block. So decide. Why are you here, because folks reading this talk page would think you are acting in a deliberately disruptive manner? BusterD (talk) 16:57, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- Look man my bad I'm just new to this editing thing. It's because the other truck manufacturing pages have a ton of mistakes. So I want to make a better one. I apologize if I am making a fuss. I will do my part to be a good editor. PeterbiltDude (talk) 17:06, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding in a collegial way. 1) Smart people disagree all the time. 2) Expect people to challenge you here. Be nice about it. Nobody means you ill. 3) I was quite pleased with your choice of topics, although some won't make it. I did attempt to source American Motor Truck Company but I couldn't find anything directly detailing (I found mountains of ads saying "selling below cost" AND their liquidation agreement; they were collapsing in 1922). 4) If you feel things aren't going well, ask around. Ask me. 5) You are not alone. Not being alone translates to learning to get along. Check out Wikipedia's WP:Five pillars for background. BusterD (talk) 17:44, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- What can I do to make sure my American & Canadian Truck Manufacturers doesn't get deleted? PeterbiltDude (talk) 17:47, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- I am pretty sure that the article will be deleted because it is mainly duplicate content of the existing List of American truck manufacturers. Please make your corrections to that article; it certainly won't be considered vandalism if you 1) say why you're making a change in the edit summary of each edit, 2) use sources when possible, preferably to recognized authorities on the subject, and 3) be bold, but make sure to communicate along the way, especially if conflicts arise (and I think you've been doing that fine).Having said all that, I think there could potentially be some expansion to the List of truck manufacturers, as there is no content detailing Canadian truck manufacturers. Have fun and just realize that experienced editors can sometimes be persnickety about people that are new to the encyclopedia, even though one of our pillars is that we should treat each other with respect and civility and that there are no firm rules. Just be reasonable with your contributions and continue to talk with other editors. Dawnseeker2000 03:10, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- Why did you reset the page List of American truck manufacturers? PeterbiltDude (talk) 15:00, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- Not all of the changes that were made were improvements. I think you either need to start making smaller changes and leave very specific explanations of what and why you're making the change in the edit summary or stop editing altogether until you check up on Wikipedia:Instructional material or Help:Getting started. You've repeatedly used the phrase "The original version of this page contained a huge number of mistakes. I have fixed this page to make it better." in your summaries. That is not really explanatory at all, especially since your edits have come under scrutiny and after I specifically asked you to communicate. Also, what specific information led you to think that you were blocked? Dawnseeker2000 15:38, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- I saw a notification that I was blocked for 1 week. Thats why for now on I've been very careful. However, I understand my "improvements" may not be valid. In my opinion it is but I won't edit that page anymore. Just letting you know there are a lot of mistakes that need improvement. I apologize if I haven't been communicating that well. I've been very busy with other things. For now, on I will make small edits for now until I can learn how to make big edits without anything needing to get reset. PeterbiltDude (talk) 16:00, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, there was no notification. Sometimes we find that new or potential editors aren't really a good fit for the encyclopedia. It's kind of like just needing to have a minimum threshold of understanding. Dawnseeker2000 17:38, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- I often find that the reference points for language and terminology we utilize in Wikipedia don't necessarily translate to real life as well as we might like. PeterbiltDude, if you're willing to do some reading, I'd be willing to tutor you a bit. No promises, but you'd have somebody to ask questions of. Brute force is a bad way to repair trucks, and a bad way to argue about historical topics. Some orientation and discretion are usually helpful. BusterD (talk) 19:23, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

- User:Dawnseeker2000 & User:BusterD PeterbiltDude is blocked on Wikimedia Commons due to copyright violations and potential violations stemming to uploading a number of 80+ year old photos as "own works". They likely don't understand that there is some separation between the different Wikis in terms of administration (usually-obviously global blocks exist). However, if PeterbiltDude is serious about wanting to create these articles a main space block might be helpful as they would be required to do so in the draft space and then submit for review. Once an understanding of policy and guidelines and editing competency are demonstrated the block can be lifted. Best, GPL93 (talk) 14:40, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, GPL93. I had not checked with Commons, so I appreciate your link and your brief explanation. Thank you again. I'm concerned myself this user isn't willing to respond appropriately to feedback, and instead will become a timesink for the rest of us. So blocked indef eventually. It's totally up to PeterbiltDude. All the drafts will time out and be deleted as G13. Hasn't happened yet. I'm a nice guy right up to a point. I've done my share to help them. It would be difficult for PeterbiltDude to describe me as one of his foes on en.wiki. I like seeing the sort of content they want to create. But rules are rules and I'm obliged to enforce them. - I don't see you logged as blocked by any administrator. User:Dawnseeker2000 makes some useful comments above. Hang in there, PeterbiltDude. I believe you have something to add. Ask for help if you need it. In my experience folks who ask for help tend to be people who may accept critique. BusterD (talk) 04:17, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- PeterbiltDude, I apologize for becoming confused and not realizing that you were also working on our sister site Wikimedia Commons. You're absolutely welcome to contribute there again in about a week and of course here also. Dawnseeker2000 15:42, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Acason Motor Truck Company
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Acason Motor Truck Company, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- I removed the deletion tag and moved the article to Draft:Orange EV. WhoAteMyButter's comments above were true:
- The page did look like "unambiguous advertising"
- The article would "need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic"
- I did some checking and I think that Orange EV is probably notable, so I moved it to draft space. You've got 6 months to work on it there to get it into an acceptable format.
- Thanks for your work on trucks! --A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 23:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have added a number of references you can use to expand the article. Our copyright rules are very strict, so avoid plagiarizing them. Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright is a little easier to read than the actual rules.
- Orange EV sounds like an interesting company -- thanks for this article! A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 04:03, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you the references! I really appreciate it. PeterbiltDude (talk) 01:39, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Capacity Trucks
[edit]Hello PeterbiltDude,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Capacity Trucks for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

- I see that you have created a lot of drafts and articles about truck companies that do not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. Please read the GOLDENRULE explaining what can be included here. — ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 06:09, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Hello, I'm 204.111.137.20. I noticed that you recently removed all content from a page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. 204.111.137.20 (talk) 19:12, 27 May 2025 (UTC)

- I removed it because it was a redirect page which I thought was very unnecessary. PeterbiltDude (talk) 16:55, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- And this is why you were advised to seek alternate paths for deletion. This redirect is tagged with {{R from surname}}, as this is the only notable person with this surname with an article here on Wikipedia. If you have a different reason for deletion, please use venues like Redirects for discussion. Jalen Barks (Woof) 19:29, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to IShowSpeed. This YouTuber did not die yesterday. Belbury (talk) 05:47, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:
Your reason here I saw it on a news article which looked believable PeterbiltDude (talk) 15:28, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Even if you saw such a source, you did not cite it. That is grossly irresponsible behavior in editing a BLP, and I'm not ure you should be editing any BLPs at all given that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:43, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- I'd like to see the news article. Please provide a link. This seems to be one of the many cases in which your failure to provide reliable sources has cost you something. BusterD (talk) 15:36, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
Yes, please show the article you saw claiming that man died, or a story saying that such an article was published but retracted. 331dot (talk) 08:47, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
