Edit summaries

[edit]

Hey, welcome to Wikipedia! Can you please explain your edits in the edit summaries please? Many of the changes you have made have been reverted as they have been unconstructive (such as removing valid information) and without edit summaries I don't understand your intentions. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 14:18, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you i removed the actors from the character summaries bit becuase they are in the info box and i do not want to repeat information from now on i will explain these in my edits James4pk (talk) 15:44, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I understand, but the actors should still be in the lead as it is important information, and the infobox is meant to be a summary of the information. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 16:01, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for your help, i apologise for this :) James4pk (talk) 16:25, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! Please let me know if you need any other help :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 16:27, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello there.
Wondered why you undid my revisions correcting the presentation of character duration? My revisions are accurate and consistent with other british soap character articles. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:30, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
because i looked on nicola mitchells talk page and a higher up has said that this ok to do this. James4pk (talk) 17:33, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A higher up?
It's not okay though. It's inconsistent and is actively now encouraging vandalism of pre-existing character pages like Ruby Allen, johnny Carter.
Stick to the consistent presentation please. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:37, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it is also okay for ME to correct it to an also approved version. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:37, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i do not appreciate your tone for something so insignificant as next week is 2025 anyways but i think since 2024 is the correct format. @Livelikemusic would you assist me with this please? James4pk (talk) 17:41, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The MOS stands, however, a supposed "new user," who seems a bit too close to this, appears to want to ignore MOS and edit-war things too much. WP:ANI may be the best course of action against them. Editing against/edit-warring against MOS is more seen as vandalism than following it. livelikemusic (TALK!) 22:14, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hi, i am not the one using 2024-present and am using since 2024 on pages (look at my edits) . i did not start this arguement and think you may have misunderstood the situation. thank you :) James4pk (talk) 23:15, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I know that. Your behaviour wasn't what I was referring to! livelikemusic (TALK!) 23:48, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh im so sorry im the one that misunderstood that my bad. I hope you have a good day :) James4pk (talk) 00:29, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have also had multiple messages about this topic which you can find on past versions of my talk page which I have removed due to being accused of such things as vandalism. EEfamilytrees (talk) 17:46, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do not appreciate vandalism and encouraged vandalism of EE character pages.
Johnny Carter for example now has two different presentation styles used. This is conflicting and inconsistent and we have a responsibility of consistency across character pages. Same with new articles like Teddy and Nicola. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:47, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
this has been proven as not vandalism so i do not get your argument. James4pk (talk) 17:49, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it is.
Johnny carter is using two different presentation styles now. "Since-" may be accepted but so is "Year-present" and i'm trying to make it consistent across all pages/characters.
Johnny and Ruby have actively been vandalised now. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:50, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IT IS NOT VANDALISM!
Please, read these: MOS:DATETOPRES/MOS:SINCE EEfamilytrees (talk) 17:50, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
YES IT IS.
You have actively contradicted on the Johnny Carter page what presentation is being used. You've created a flip/flop between one style to another. There's ZERO consistency which is an issue. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:51, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be a vandal, you must have an intention to harm Wikipedia. I am using the manual of style and things I have been taught by experienced editors. You're the one sending messages to multiple people accusing them of vandalism and starting edit wars. If anything is vandalism, it's that. EEfamilytrees (talk) 17:53, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because multiple people are creating inconsistencies in the articles which I consider vandalism.
Johnny and Ruby now have contradictory styles within the same articles creating confusion and inconsistency. It needs to stop. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:54, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ok
vandalism

Vandalism isn't something you can consider. It has a meaning. I am ending this argument here. EEfamilytrees (talk) 17:55, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay.
How about the inconsistency in the presentation for Johnny and Ruby then? Contradictory styles on the same articles?
This is ridiculous. British soap characters have been using "Year-" for years now. All of sudden select people want to change it? GuyFromEE (talk) 17:56, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
things have changed several times on wikipedia, thats just how things work. James4pk (talk) 17:57, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then change ALL the characters to this new style then?
This is my point. The inconsistency is the issue. Either change them all or leave it as the style it was. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:58, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
they will all be changed. James4pk (talk) 17:58, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All changed to
"since year"
Yes?
Then why is johnny and ruby still using "Year-year" for their previous stints but "Since year" for their current stints?
The inconsistency is what i'm editing. it's messy and creates confusion. GuyFromEE (talk) 17:59, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the since is only for the current year. James4pk (talk) 18:00, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
2024 IS the present, we do not live in different universes. James4pk (talk) 18:00, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Even though the Knights used "2023-Present" when they joined the show?
As did Priya?
See? Inconsistency. GuyFromEE (talk) 18:01, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
its not. i am done with this now we are going round in circles please wait til someone else intervenes. thanks :) James4pk (talk) 18:04, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is.
Especially as every other british soap character uses the "Year-Present" format. GuyFromEE (talk) 18:04, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate images to Wikipedia; it is considered vandalism. Please see the image use policy for appropriate use of images in Wikipedia. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. You really need to begin to look at WP:NFCC and consider your view of uploading images; also, using the rationale of Better Image then previous. is subjective, and not a valid reason for image upload. Also, it would be than previous not then previous. livelikemusic (TALK!) 15:27, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I apolygise for any disturbance i caused. I was just trying to make the pictures a bit better as to be honest there not great currently but clearly im not doing so well in that. If i put a better reason could i not put pictures on there? Or i could discuss on the talk page if they need updated. Many thanks. James4pk (talk) 20:13, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if my grammar is not 100% perfect. James4pk (talk) 20:15, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Whether a photograph is better is irrelevant. The terms of non-free content and the criteria we must meet are plain and simple. Not to mention, you're not to override an existing image, as you did at File:Ruby Allen.png; not to mention, you're uploading images which need to be resized to meet the non-free content guideline. Images do not need to be updated in the way you're updating them. At all. Most, if not all of your image uploads have been contested/reverted, as they are not necessary to articles. Just because you think a character should have an updated image does not mean they should. So long as the image represents the character, then it does not need to be updated and/or replaced (i.e.: Cindy Beale) livelikemusic (TALK!) 21:41, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, i understand. My apolygises :) James4pk (talk) 03:53, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No offence, but you don't if you made this change. You've clearly ignored this conversation to continue your continued edits, and it's becoming highly disruptive. livelikemusic (TALK!) 18:53, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that was my last ditch attempt but i will not do any pictures now as i assume that they only need updating every so often so i wont do anymore in future. James4pk (talk) 19:00, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to clarify that images rarely, if ever, need updating. This is because they are to best represent the character as a whole, not just how they appear now. FishLoveHam (talk) 20:23, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to upload unencyclopedic images, you may be blocked from editing. Once again warning you to read WP:NFCC. Also, altering an image's brightness results in it failing WP:NFCC; if the scene for which a character is in it not of best lighting, it is usually a smart idea not to use that scene for your capture. livelikemusic (TALK!) 00:13, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add an inappropriate image, as you did at Tom "Rocky" Cotton. You have a clear history of disruption when it comes to uploading pictures of fictional characters. The screenshot of Rocky Cotton was uploaded to Wikimedia Commons by User:Harley2210 under the incorrect license. You took the same upload and attempted to apply thinly veiled fair use rationale to it, despite using a large resolution version of the file which is not allowed. Rain the 1 00:22, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was just trying to add a screenshot to stay consistent with the rest of the EastEnders pages. I saw that image by Harley2210 and wanted to add it properly to help him out. My images may not be perfect, but i dont do it to cause harm, i do it to better the pages for them to stay consistent. Im sorry my screenshotting skills are not to scratch.
Have a good day
) James4pk (talk) 01:30, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand it can be difficult to navigate the upload templates as a new editor. Screenshots should be cropped and reduced to low resolution and so that any copies made from it will be of inferior quality. The character's facial expression is odd and is not neutral. To me its inclusion seems like a bit of a joke on the original uploaders behalf. Often new accounts upload ridiculous poses to derail articles and that was my other objection to its inclusion.Rain the 1 08:12, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why have you since removed sourced content from Wikipedia without any explanation? [1] - I checked the source and the information checks out, so why remove it?Rain the 1 20:42, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, can I ask that you stop adding that picture to Nicola Mitchell as it isn't necessary seen as the previous one was only taken recently. Plus, the image is far too dark. EEfamilytrees (talk) 14:36, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Max, i feel i have explained the new image well. Thank you. James4pk (talk) 14:38, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Brightening an image breaks WP:NFCC even more. Now you are edit warring, so please stop as you've already been warned by somebody else that editing another image with no reason could warrant in you being blocked from editing. EEfamilytrees (talk) 14:44, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add an inappropriate image. Once again, you still are not following the parameters of WP:NFCC, and your continued edit-warring/owning of images is becoming an increasing problem. I am sorry if I annoyed you in any way.
