Destubathon runs until the 16th of July
[edit]Hi, just a courtesy message to notify you in case you haven't seen the Wikipedia:The World Destubathon contest update in the last few days that we've decided to run the full month until the 16th of July. For those who have been too busy to contribute, we would love some help in reaching 4000 articles by Wednesday night! At present we're about 480 articles short!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:41, 13 July 2025 (UTC)

Early morning hours
[edit]Is there a consensus someplace for this edit? You seem to be following this editor around and reverting what appears to be perfectly good edits. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:02, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 there is a discussion on the user's talk page where multiple people have objected to (and subsequently reverted) these edits, which disrupt grammatical flow. For example,
"in the early morning hours of June 13, 1814"
makes much more sense than"in the early morning of June 13, 1814"
. ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 17:04, 15 July 2025 (UTC)- Both are imprecise idioms the pretty much mean the same thing. I can't believe you're edit warring over this. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:19, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- This does not constitute an edit war. I'm mainly taking issue with the grammatical issues created by the removal of a word which previously improved the flow of a sentence. ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 17:25, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

... to WP:QAI, with thanks for the quality articles on ships you made already! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:13, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! My next (hopefully quality) article is nearly ready. Nobody warned me getting back into practice would be this draining.😂 ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 10:22, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- My last was tedious, and the next one waiting for me to improve, but people die, and I jump, - couldn't believe that Claus Peymann had no article until yesterday (and the German one is too detailed). Good to have you on board ;) - place articles to be reviewed oon the project talk, please. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:29, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Will do.
- I wish you luck with that one, although it already looks good from where I am standing.
- My current project, SS William C. Moreland, unintentionally ended up becoming the longest piece I have ever written. ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 10:36, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Amazing! - I hope to nominate later today, needs background and a bit more detail. - Three Ukrainian topics were on the main page today, at least at the beginning, RD and DYK, - see my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:29, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt my next piece about this ship, which I am building almost entirely from period newspaper clippings, is about 1/4 done and will be featured in the DYK column. It's been too long. I believe the last time I had a DYK was during Yoninah's time there. ✠Saltymagnolia✠ 19:13, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! - I have two DYK open, several GA with one review, and a FAC, for BWV 79. - Three of "my" recent deaths bios are on the main page right now, one my story today, Gary Karr, and I loved to find his breakthrough concert in 1962 as a video. In my music today I match it with 9 other double bassists, 7 conducted by a person who's birthday is today - coincidence ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:33, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- On Bach's day of death, I decorated my user pages in memory of his music, and my story ends on "peace". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:51, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt I'm curious. What is the idea behind these daily entries? A commemoration of specific events of the day, or can they be random? ✠ Saltymagnolia ✠ 11:17, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- You mean my stories? I am a DYK person, beginning with my first article, but DYK turned into a place where I struggle to be heard, therefore I began to write my own, somehow linked to the day, so today's to the mentioning of Bach in the OTD section of the Main page. Bach had a DYK, rather recently, typical for what I don't like: nothing about him, something negative about his heirs. I wrote hundreds of DYK about his works, so had supply to pick a few on my user page. On my talk page, I matched to music from recent concerts featuring Bach, and made the image in the "in memoriam" box also a Bach manuscript, - they are so beautiful! Tomorrow I will have to decide between Mikis Theodorakis, born in 1925, and David Rendall, on RD (Recent deaths) now, an article I improved much over the last days, together with NeoGaze. Rendall may also be featured the following day, or not. I probably saw him on stage once, - not that I remembered the name, but one of the roles mentioned matches a period when I saw the opera at that house. (But singers sometimes alternate.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:29, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt that's actually very nice. DYK has a lot of issues and I believe there are quite a few things which I believe need smoothing out, but generally, it is a great way to showcase something. Hell, if someone reads an interesting hook, they could become hooked on a subject for life. While I'm personally not the biggest Bach fan, I am thankful for his contributions, since they have inspired some of my favourite artists; Cliff Burton of Metallica being an extremely unlikely example.
- I know the feeling of being ignored here. I am aware my topic of choice is not exactly mainstream, and have adjusted my expectations accordingly. However, even with that in mind, I nonetheless experience occasions where I feel unappreciated. ✠ Saltymagnolia ✠ 15:15, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
