- Hi, per the additional notability standards listed in Wikipedia:Notability (people) , I believe this subject should qualify for a Wikipedia article.
- Specifically, subjects are often suitable if "The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for such an award several times". The subject has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences in the United States, one of the highest honors (if not the highest) for a scientist in the United States. They are also the current president of the Society for American Archaeology, the leading organization for archaeologists in the United States.
- Additionally, the subject is an academic researcher, and according to the guidelines, "Many scientists, researchers, philosophers and other scholars (collectively referred to as "academics" for convenience) are notably influential in the world of ideas without their biographies being the subject of secondary sources."
- I am happy to add additional sources discussing the subject's accomplishments, however I would argue that according to these standards the article qualifies as-is. Chinchaycamac (talk) 00:56, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Chinchaycamac, just so you know, most reviewers won't receive your messages if you use the reply button like this - you actually need to ping them. (Known bug, sorry.) Type the @ sign once you've hit "reply" and their name should come up automatically. You're correct, by the way, about the NAS. If your articles are declined for lack of notability and the subject is an NAS member, please let the reviewer know so they can correct their mistake. Thanks for contributing! -- asilvering (talk) 21:16, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
