Information icon Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, wikis, personal websites, and websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight. These sources may express views that are widely acknowledged as pushing a particular point-of-view, sometimes even extremist, being promotional in nature, or relying heavily on rumors and personal opinions. One of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 14:16, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MrOllie,
Thanks a lot for your message and for helping me understand the right way to contribute. I’m new to editing Wikipedia, so I really appreciate your guidance.
Actually, one of the parts I enjoy the most is looking for references! Though sometimes I’m not 100% sure if a source is considered reliable or not, so your feedback is really helpful.
I’ll be more careful moving forward and make sure to stick to trustworthy sources. Thanks again for the support!
Best wishes

Nowiki and preview

[edit]

Hi there, please do not use the nowiki function, as you did at Fcitx, unless you really mean to. It can easily break things. Also, please get in the habit of using the preview function, which can reveal errors before submitting your work. I'll attach an automated message with some links below. Thank you, Jessicapierce (talk) 17:18, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it.

The Show preview button is right next to the Publish changes button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 17:18, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jessicapierce,
Thank you for your message and the recommendation. I wasn’t aware of the preview function before, but it seems really useful—especially since I’ve had to republish several times when something didn’t come out right. I’ll definitely start using it from now on.
If you know of any other helpful functions or tools like that, I’d really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction to learn more.
Thanks again!

Sure thing! Honestly, make Preview your new best friend and it will save you a lot of grief. Wikipedia formatting can be so touchy... a single misplaced character can wreck a lot of stuff.
Don't be afraid to reach out to others for help or advice, and if you get really stuck, or think you've messed something up horribly, the help-me template is so useful (see here). I used it today myself. There's always someone out there willing to help.
There's a ton of documentation on the ins and outs of editing Wikipedia... it's useful but also daunting. The Manual of Style is pretty essential though, so make sure you know the basics of that.
Have fun! :) Jessicapierce (talk) 03:10, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for the tips! Honestly, I’m going to dive into the reading, because this is turning out to be way more fun than I expected. I feel like a full-on researcher, discovering new things for Wikipedia. So I’ll do my homework, dig into the Manual of Style, and keep learning. Preview is definitely my new best friend already!
