Centralizing project discussion

When a project includes multiple operational pages, it is generally best to redirect their discussion pages to the main discussion page for the project. That way, participants remain aware of what is going on with the project without having to search out every nook and cranny where discussions may be taking place.

The exception to this strategy is when a task is delegated that would generate a great deal of discussion, and centralizing it with the project's other discussions would create a discussion page of unmanageable size.

Question from ArtocarpusOdoratissimusTarap on Durio testudinarius (12:08, 9 May 2025)

[edit]

Hi! I fixed a typo in durio testudinarius but it wouldn’t update, can you find out why? --ArtocarpusOdoratissimusTarap (talk) 12:08, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ArtocarpusOdoratissimusTarap: I think by far the most likely reason is that you made some mistake, such as clicking the preview button instead of the "Publish changes" button, for example, though very rarely a software glitch can cause an edit to not save. Can you try saving the edit again? JBW (talk) 16:16, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
JBW Hi! Thanks for replying to my comment! I will try doing that! ArtocarpusOdoratissimusTarap (talk) 01:28, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, i tried changing the latin name above the conservation status but it wouldn’t update. Is there a problem (if this helps, im using mobile) ArtocarpusOdoratissimusTarap (talk) 01:41, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We do not "fix" scientific names. We follow what the sourcce material uses. If the source material doesn't match gender, then we don't either. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:06, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@UtherSRG and JBW:Hi! I know it’s me again, but do you think “Yeafofthedurian” and “hornbill dispersed fruit of borneo” are good sources for some of the durio spp cause i know the former does a lot of research but the latter? I doubt it. --ArtocarpusOdoratissimusTarap (talk) 13:53, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Destinyokhiria. Good day. NPPS covers topics such as sources, notability, SSN, article content, AfD, CSD, communication, article creation, verifiability, and many more subjects that will assist a patroller in reviewing new articles on Wikipedia.
There are 10 assignments and one final exam in the NPPS program, and most participants take about three months to complete it. However, there is no time limit for completing the program, as each participant works at their own pace. Since NPPS is a comprehensive program, it will require a significant amount of your time to complete the assignments and read the guidelines so let me know, and if you still want to proceed with the program. Stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 08:12, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Danfam29 (04:26, 12 May 2025)

[edit]

Hi and thank you

Where di I start to write an article? --(talk) 04:26, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Danfam29 Good day. I believe your question is about how to write an article in Wikipedia. In order for a subject to warrant a page in the main space of Wikipedia, it must fulfill the criteria outlined in the Wikipedia guideline on notability, specifically the General Notability Guideline (WP:GNG).
GNG is defined as the subject must fulfill specific criteria to demonstrate significant coverage from independent and reliable sources. These sources should provide in-depth discussions about the subject rather than merely offering passing mentions. This requirement is essential for verification, which is a core policy of Wikipedia. If a source is affiliated/associated/connected with the subject—such as the subject's marketing team, company, social media platforms, information in interviews of the subject or any self-published information—this indicates a lack of independence. Consequently, such sources cannot be utilized to satisfy the notability guidelines. Sources originating from educational institutions, government entities, foundations, social media platforms, and private companies are regarded as unreliable. In contrast, materials published by "major" newspapers and "reputable" books are typically considered reliable sources.
I recommend that you read WP:Your first article and adhere to the provided instructions before beginning the creation of an article. Cassiopeia talk 07:52, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
