Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to List of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS characters have been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 09:53, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page My Talking Tom has an edit summary that appears to be inadequate, inaccurate, or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits. Thank you. Stickymatch 07:39, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Stickymatch! I'm very sorry, I will do better next time, promise! Anyway stay blessed, enjoy your day and may you live the life you best loved ✿✿✿ ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 10:55, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]
The Seventh-Day Adventist Church logo.

Hello, BeastBoy-X, and welcome to Wikipedia! We're glad to have you here. While I'm sure your edits have been good in faith, I would advise you to be a little more careful in the future. Those two messages above are called user warnings. Both are Level 1, so you probably don't have anything to worry about as long as you don't intentionally vandalize Wikipedia. And you replied politely to them, which is good. I just don't want you to get blocked. (Don't worry, you won't get blocked as long as you edit with a good purpose. Even if there is something wrong with a good faith edit, Wikipedians are supposed to assume good faith, which includes not blocking newcomers for making mistakes.) For example, while I don't mind that you edited my user page, some users might get annoyed if you do it to theirs. In short, do be bold, but don't make intentionally unconstructive edits (which I don't think you did).

Don't worry, though — just edit with a good purpose in mind, and you most likely won't get blocked.

Again, welcome to Wikipedia! If you need any help, you can click here to leave me a message on my talk page. Alternatively, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or Help Desk. If you want a quick reply, you can place the {{help me}} template on your talk page and describe your issue below it.

Here are some resources you might find helpful:

If you are bored or don't know exactly what to do, you can visit the Task Center, where you will find a list of topics needing attention. If you are fluent in more than one language, Wikipedia would be glad to have you help translate articles. Also, you can visit the Abuse Log or Recent changes page and patrol for obvious vandalism. (Obvious vandalism includes stuff like this.) See the Simple guide to vandalism cleanup if you would like to know how to revert vandalism.

If you would like to make test edits, feel free to do so in your sandbox.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the  button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes <span data-dtsignatureforswitching="1"></span> at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.

If you need further help, or have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Anything would be welcome.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 04:33, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the warning, you see I'm really young so according to Wikipedia's privacy policy for children I can't reveal my age but all I can say is that I'm young so I make lots of mistakes. Ether way have a blessed day! ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 14:16, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Note from Balsam Cottonwood

[edit]

Hello, BeastBoy-X! Just letting you know that you can ask me all the questions you want. I won't get annoyed. Anyway, I like answering questions! (Of course, you don't have to ask me any questions. I'm just letting you know that I'll be happy to help if you need anything.) 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 02:00, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm deeply sorry for replying so late, please forgive me. Anyway, what kind of links can I add to my template? ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 13:26, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Do you use or know twinkle? I have no idea what it is. I have Twinklemobile on my account, but like to use desktop site, any way, I don't know what: Warn, Wel, TB, CSD, XFD, RPP, Last and Config are for. I was hoping you could help⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 13:58, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine, I don't mind the delay. You could add some of these links to your welcome template. (These are piped links, so you'll have to click on them to see the actual page title.) I've included the markup too, so you can just copy the text on the left and paste it in source mode. Alternatively, copying the text on the right and pasting it in visual mode should work as well.
Markup Renders as

You can also see the standard formatting of most welcome templates by viewing a gallery of welcome templates here.
As for Twinkle and other vandalism tools, I unfortunately don't know anything about them. I usually use the Recent Changes list to find vandalism, and I revert it without any tools. Here is a direct link to the filter setting I usually use to check for vandalism. It filters out most good edits and highlights the ones that are "very likely bad faith." It's an automatic filter, so it might not be completely accurate, but I still manage to find a moderate amount of vandalism. See Help:Recent Changes and Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol for more information. You can also try Stickymatch's suggestion, if you haven't already — she suggested you join a counter-vandalism academy for newcomers, with a list of instructors here.
If you ever have a question I can't answer, don't be afraid to ask at the Teahouse! Anyway, let me know if you need anything else. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 18:09, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I need a little help, is the message I sent to GlorytoCalifornia in Talk:Bible:
How should the lead describe how different faiths view the Bible, part II right? If it isn't, please tell me and I will apologize. ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 15:36, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What else can I add to my template, I think it's done but I don't feel like it, is there any thing else or what? ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 16:21, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I actually don't know about Talk:Bible. I saw that discussion before but I wasn't involved. As for your template, it's looking good! How about add a link to the Wikipedia:Task Center (with text saying "Task Center") under the heading "Things to do"? When you're ready to submit it for review you can add {{subst:submit}} to the top of your sandbox in source mode. Consider using <noinclude>{{subst:submit}}</noinclude>. This will make sure that the {{submit}} template doesn't get copied onto other pages, in case you decide to use it for something before it's accepted. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 18:19, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, BeastBoy-X, I would just like to notify you that I have archived my talk page, which means that I moved the discussions to User talk:Balsam Cottonwood/Archive 3 to keep my talk page from getting too long. I don't mind that you're late! We all live in different time zones and have our own schedules... it doesn't bother me. What would you like me to teach you? 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 05:05, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Anything! ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 00:03, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay... how about {{DISPLAYTITLE}}? This causes the title of a page to appear different from what it actually is. For example, I used it on my user and talk pages to turn "User:Balsam Cottonwood" to "User:Balsam Cottonwood". Text styling should rarely be used in articles, but it's fine to experiment on your own user and talk pages (and sandbox). DISPLAYTITLE won't be able to change the actual title, with the exception of omitting a few words (see Wikipedia:Don't stuff beans up your nose/Uh-huh, which omits most of the words to just say "Uh-huh" — the title remains the same underneath, though). You could use it to style the title of your user page and talk page, such as colouring the writing. Just write {{DISPLAYTITLE:Styled title}} at the top of your page, replacing "Styled title" with your styled title. It should probably still read "User:BeastBoy-X", but you can style it however you want, including colour, italics, font, etc. You seem to already know how to incorporate colours, but you can always ask for more help.
As an example, if you only wanted to colour the text blue, you could use {{DISPLAYTITLE:{{Font color|Blue|User:BeastBoy-X}}}}, which will render User:BeastBoy-X. Of course, you don't have to style the whole title, and there are so many options that it would be hard to explain them all here. Why not try it out and ask me for help if you're having trouble? Just make sure to use {{DISPLAYTITLE:}}, that is, with a colon ( : ) instead of a pipe character ( | ).
I'd be happy to answer any further questions! 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 04:37, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, you are so smart! I need some help choosing between :

I actually don't know  – they both look good to me. I've tested them both out in your sandbox; feel free to check it out. Why not try them both out and see what they actually look like in the title? I had to try a few times with mine before I got it how I liked it. Just remember to include "User:" and User talk:" in the Display Title, even if you're not styling them, else it won't work. Here, I'll provide them both in source code for you:
Option One (for user page):
{{DISPLAYTITLE:User:<span style="color:darkblue"><span style="font-family:linux libertine o, times"><big>B</big>east<big>B</big>oy<big>-X</big></span></span>}}
Option One (for talk page):
{{DISPLAYTITLE:User talk:<span style="color:darkblue"><span style="font-family:linux libertine o, times"><big>B</big>east<big>B</big>oy<big>-X</big></span></span>}}
Option Two (for user page):
{{DISPLAYTITLE:User:<span style="font-family:Cursive; color: darkblue; font-size:none;"><b><big>B</big>east<big>B</big>oy<big>-X</big></b></span>}}
Option Two (for talk page):
{{DISPLAYTITLE:User talk:<span style="font-family:Cursive; color: darkblue; font-size:none;"><b><big>B</big>east<big>B</big>oy<big>-X</big></b></span>}}
🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 09:41, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, by the way your bolded one looks awesome. I will use one for my user page and one for my talk page ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 14:08, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Balsam! Do I put the display title of the talk page in the talk page or user page? ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 17:53, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The first "Option One" is for your user page, while the second "Option One" is for your user talk page  – it's the same with both "Option Two"s. The only difference is that it says "User talk:" rather than just "User:" in the ones for the talk page. The DISPLAYTITLE has to be equivalent to the actual title, else it won't work. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 18:01, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see, what else can you teach me? ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 18:03, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

(Template {{outdent}} can be used when discussions get too long, in case you were wondering what I did there.)
Sorry for my late reply. How about I show you how to include fixed images on your page? See my page for two examples; I put a gold cross in the bottom right corner and a silver ichthys fish at the bottom left. Would you like me to teach you that? 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 03:15, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

no problem, as you said, We all live in different time zones and have our own schedules so I have no problem. Yes!, Please teach me ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 05:01, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you just want to use the ones on my page, you can copy the following codes and place them on your own page  – anywhere works, I think.
For the cross:
{{User:Balsam Cottonwood/Gold cross}}
For the fish:
{{User:Balsam Cottonwood/Ichthys}}
However, you probably want to use a different image, and/or position it differently. For that, copy and paste the code below, replacing "IMAGE NAME" with the name of the image you would like to use.
<div style="position: fixed; left:0; bottom:0; display:block; height:130px; width:188px;"> ::[[File:IMAGE NAME|120px|link={{{1}}}]]</div>
There are other parts of this code you can fill in, too. You can replace "left:0" with "right:0" to make the image appear on the right. You can also change the "0" to another number; this will make the image display more to the center. The same will work with the "bottom:0" part; replace it with "top:0" to move the image to the top of the page, or change the number for somewhere in between. It's probably best not to position the image right in the middle of the page, as that would cause visibility issues, but feel free to experiment.
For the image name, just write the title of the image (in the case of the gold cross it was File:Gold Christian Cross no Red.svg) within double brackets (like [[this]]). You can also specify the size you would like the image to be (which might be needed in some cases, as some images can come out very large) by changing "120px" in the code above to any other number  – just remember to include "px". You can experiment with sizes, images, and positions all you want until you get what you like.
The "link" part can be used to link the image to any page; for example, I linked the cross on my page to the article Christian cross and the ichthys to Ichthys. By default, the image links to its own description page.
Warning: Make sure not to change the link of any image that is copyrighted in any way. Most images on Wikimedia Commons require attribution; that is, you must provide a link to the original image, which would be lost if you changed the default link. It is fine to use such images, as long as you leave the link as it is. If you want to change the link, you can search for an uncopyrighted image, like one that is in the public domain. You can do this by including "cc0" or "public domain" in your search terms on Wikimedia Commons  – an example. This will show you mostly uncopyrighted images, but you should always check to make sure, if you're planning to change the link. Public domain images usually have a box that says something like this:
The person who associated a work with this deed has dedicated the work to the public domain by waiving all of their rights to the work worldwide under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights, to the extent allowed by law. You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission.
Never change the link of any image listed under the following copyright, as it can cause copyright issues:
You are free:
  • to share – to copy, distribute and transmit the work
  • to remix – to adapt the work
Under the following conditions:
  • attribution – You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
Returning to the main topic, you can use the code directly on your user page, or you can make yourself a subpage (like "User:BeastBoy-X/Image") and paste the code there. You can then treat the title as a template; that is, you will be able to put {{User:BeastBoy-X/Image}} on your page and your image will appear. Let me know if you need clarification on anything else! 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 06:06, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you ever need help archiving your talk page when it gets too long, you can ask me. I'm no expert at archiving, but I already have three talk page archives, so I could probably help out. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 06:10, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, I don't mind your questions. I suppose I'm a little late, but I do think the green one is a little easier to read. (They're both readable, but the dark blue on black might not work so well). 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 21:17, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle

[edit]

Hi, I'm just letting you know that I have enabled Twinkle on my account. I used to think it was some sort of dangerous, complicated, hard-to-use installment that could easily malfunction and get users blocked. I was greatly mistaken, and I think my earlier answers to your questions were affected by that. Now that I actually know what Twinkle is, I can tell you.

It's basically a drop-down menu in the top right corner of the page that has several features you can do anyway without Twinkle, just not as quickly. The options vary between user pages and articles, and there are more options for administrators, but features include: Warning users, welcoming users, proposing an article for deletion, requesting page protection, etc. There are also options in page histories to quickly restore a past revision or undo multiple edits. You can read about it fully at Wikipedia:Twinkle and Wikipedia:Twinkle/doc. You can view a detailed description of the options Twinkle gives here.

While it isn't that dangerous (at least not how I thought it was), you still have to be careful. I would advise welcoming and warning some users manually (but for good reasons. of course, not just as a test), and undoing some vandalism manually, before you try it with Twinkle. If you would like to experiment with Twinkle and test it out, you can do so in your sandbox  – I did. Although you probably shouldn't mark your sandbox for speedy deletion unless you mean it.

If you would like to enable Twinkle (you might already know this), then just go to your preferences and, under the "Gadjets" section, check the box that says:

Twinkle: add menu buttons to automate common tasks, including: reporting vandalism, warning vandals, requesting deletion or protection, welcoming users, and tagging articles (preferences)

Click "Save" and you should know have Twinkle. You can customize it at Wikipedia:Twinkle/Preferences; your preferences will be saved to User:BeastBoy-X/twinkleoptions.js (mine are at User:Balsam Cottonwood/twinkleoptions.js). If you ever need help with Twinkle, you can ask me, or, if I'm not able to answer, at the Teahouse or Help desk.

A tip for reverting vandalism: If you're not sure it's a bad edit, don't revert it. And remember that not all bad or uncertain edits are intentionally vandalism. Also, if you revert something that seems like vandalism and someone puts it back, don't re-revert. Of course, if someone writes in an article about a person, "I don't like him, he's evil", and reverts you when you remove it, you can re-revert then, as long as you're completely sure that it's intentional vandalism.

If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer; but as I'm new to Twinkle, I won't have all the answers.

P.S. I like your talk page editnotice! Do you want the cat to be a bit smaller?

P.S.2. Did you know that you are now extended confirmed? 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) 01:30, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yah, let's make it a bit smaller. Mmmm, how did you know if I was extended confirmed? I mean, I didn't even know ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 12:25, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I made it smaller, you can change it by editing the "900px" after the image. As for your question, I have your user page and talk page in my watchlist because we were (and still are) having discussions. A few days ago it said you had been updated to extended confirmed. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) 17:04, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Balsam, here's my new template!, You can use it, you're the first person I told. I just realized that I love Wikitext, so I can help you with templates, or extraordinary Userboxes. And I'm working on Shroom and Gloom, see User:BeastBoy-X/Draft:Shroom and Gloom ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 22:25, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That is quite advanced. I'm still grasping the basic colours! 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) 01:35, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For the rainbow one, use "linear-gradient(to right, Red, Orange, Yellow, #00ff00, Cyan, Blue, Purple, Violet)", or for any mixed colors, use linear-gradient(to right, Color, Color, Color .etc), and Border: 3px solid white. ⟨⟨Beastboy-𝕏-Talk!⟩⟩ 11:24, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, good to know! 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) 22:09, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Don't be chased off by this. I will just be slowing down on my edits for now, but as the template says, I will still check my notifications and watchlist at least once a day, and will try to reply to any messages. And I most likely will not be gone forever. I'm just busy right now. Feel free to keep sending me messages, though. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) 05:35, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
