Information icon Hello, I'm InterstateFive. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Cowles Mountain, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. InterstateFive (talk) - just another roadgeek 01:25, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Downers Grove South High School. Do not restore material that has been removed as a BLP violation. It is a BLP violation to mention criminal matters involving non-notable people before there is a conviction. It's not unreferenced or poorly referenced and Brock Turner was mentioned on the Stanford page before he was actually convicted.12.228.217.214 (talk) 00:20, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's just the canned wording. I already expanded the explanation. Don't restore it again. See WP:BLPCRIME Meters (talk) 00:24, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said. Brock Turner was mentioned on the Stanford page before he was convicted.12.228.217.214 (talk) 00:26, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So? I don't know what the content was, or what the context was, or even what the article was. Maybe the person was a public figure, or maybe the content should not have been in that article either, whether it was soon removed or not. That's why we apply WP:OSE to article content as well as to article deletion discussions.
If something has been removed on BLP grounds you should not restore it. Discuss it on the article's talk page if you or leave it alone. Meters (talk) 00:35, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Brock Turner is not a public figure, no matter how hard trolls on sites like Reddit and BlueSky try to make him one.12.228.217.214 (talk) 16:04, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I don't know what the content was, or what the context was, or even what the article was. If you want me to look at the material then you have to provide diffs and links. And it really does not matter. We don't determine what content should be covered by what other articles contain. Read WP:BLPCRIME. The incident you are writing about concerns someone who is not a public figure, so on WP:BLP grounds we should not mention it until there has been a conviction. Meters (talk) 01:06, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you mean Stanford University and People v. Turner, the attack happened in January 2015, he was convicted on March 30, 2016, and, as far as I can tell, the coverage in Stanford University did not appear until June 2016. I don't see a problem. Meters (talk) 22:54, 5 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
