Question from CosmosAce (02:16, 5 May 2025)
How to add a biography --CosmosAce (talk) 02:16, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi CosmosAce! Welcome to Wikipedia! We have a new user tutorial and a getting started guide that will help you. From there, you can visit this page to get started with writing your first article. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else. Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:35, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Musicby (02:04, 6 May 2025)
Hi Oshwah, Nice to meet you and I'm stuck. I want to start with an article. Is it best to do it in my sandbox and have you review it? tks, Angela --Musicby (talk) 02:04, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Musicby! You can start by writing as a draft page. From there, someone can review it and publish it for you assuming no issues are found. Click here for help with how to do so. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else, and I'll be happy to do so! Welcome! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:36, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from GeorgeAGBI (10:22, 6 May 2025)
Hi, I want to create a Wikipedia page for AGBI.com. It's a business publication in the Middle East and has been referenced back by countless sources as big as CNN, BBC, Forbes, FDI, Financial Times etc. So I'd like to create an article for AGBI.com. I've also seen where it has been referenced in Wikipedia too. --GeorgeAGBI (talk) 10:22, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi GeorgeAGBI! Welcome to Wikipedia! You can visit Wikipedia's my first articles page for a guided walkthtough on creating your first article. Another great tool is the articles for creation page, which will help you create a draft article. Once someone reviews it, it can be published to Wikipedia as an actual article. Please make sure that you also read through Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest as well. We also do not allow original research to be published either.
- Since you're brand new to Wikipedia, I highly recommend that you go through Wikipedia's getting started page and that you complete Wikipedia's new user tutorial before you make any edits or take on any major tasks around here. Those tutorial pages will provide you with many important walkthroughs, guides, interactive lessons, and other information that will familiarize you with our policies and guidelines, how Wikipedia works, how to navigate around the site, and how to find important locations and pages. Most users who take this advice, read through those pages, and complete the new user tutorial usually tell me later that they were significantly helpful to them, and saved them hours of time and frustration they would've experienced otherwise.
- Please let me know if I can answer any more questions for you or assist you with anything else. I'll be more than happy to do so. Again, welcome! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:41, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Wolfgeppert (13:10, 6 May 2025)
Hello. nice to meet you here. Thank you for your time. I hope I will not use much of it.
What do you think about the article? best regards Wolfgang --Wolfgeppert (talk) 13:10, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Wolfgeppert! Welcome to Wikipedia! I took a look at your contributions, and I didn't see any edits outside the one you made to my user talk page here. Did you perhaps create it while you were logged out? Where did you create it? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:01, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Blp.207 (18:10, 7 May 2025)
How do you add a Notes and references entry? --Blp.207 (talk) 18:10, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Blp.207! Welcome aboard! To add a list of notes to the bottom of a page, simply take a look at this section of Wikipedia's guide to adding citations, and it will show you how to do this. Please let me know if I can answer any more questions, and I'll be happy to help you further. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:04, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
Thoughts with you
My calendar reminded me to check in with you around now. I'm glad to see that you've been able to continue to do WP stuff despite all the things that are happening, right up to the last minute. All that suckiness about jobs, and finances, and driving just sucks. It's good that you have at least some material support from parents, but not all of this should fall on you and your immediate family. Hoping for a good outcome. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:33, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi jmcgnh! My surgery went well and I'm now home and recovering. I uploaded a few photos here of me after I was woken up from my surgery. So far so good, but the recovery will be a process. It'll be at least a few months until I can drive again, and so on... :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:18, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

- TheresNoTime, 1AmNobody24, Tony Holkham, HouseBlaster, Moneytrees, Floquenbeam, Buster7, Patient Zero, The4lines, Mwwv, Mz7 - Hi gang! I'm alive! I just wanted to thank all of you for the kind messages, well wishes, and thoughts. It was a five hour surgery, followed by a few days of recovery (which weren't particularly fun given some nausea). I was discharged yesterday and I'm at home recovering. My pain is lowering and is going away, and the side effects of the surgery (headache, nausea, feeling concussed, etc) are all fading. I'm also off of pretty much all of my pain medication, which is good. The biopsy should be back in a week to tell me if the tumor was cancerous or not, so I'm pretty much waiting on that. I'll update you once I find out. Other than that, it's pretty much liquid food, water, naps and all that for me right now. Thanks again for all of the thoughts and love. It means a lot to me, and I appreciate it very much! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:55, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

Excellent news from the hospital. All the best for a complete recovery. Tony Holkham (Talk) 11:20, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- Indeed; I'm alive (lol)! :-) I was discharged yesterday and I'm at home recovering in bed. My pain is lowering quickly and is going away, and the side effects of the surgery (headache, nausea, feeling concussed and confused, etc) are all fading rapidly. I'm also off of pretty much all of my pain medication, which I'm totally okay with. The biopsy should be back in a week to tell me if the tumor was cancerous or not, so I'm pretty much waiting on that. I'll update you once I find out. My story and thanks
Just so you know, I have been having issues with fatigue and weakness since 2015 that I don't know the cause of. I have been on SSDI and Medicaid since then. Although I managed to get my degree in Forensic Biology the summer of 2022, I have been too sick to use it. Instead, I am working minimum wage at a grocery store retrieving carts from a parking lot. However, even that is becoming too difficult for me. I am scheduling an appointment with a rheumatologist to see if I have any underlying condition.
Your current struggles remind me of my own. I wrote this to let you know that you are not alone. I won't name them, but plenty of other editors are going through similar problems. I will be praying for us all in church tomorrow if I have the strength to attend.
You were always one of my favorite administrators. The thought of you not being here makes me sad. Thank you for everything you have done. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 08:32, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi The Knowledge Pirate! I appreciate you for taking the time to write about your experience, as well as for your very kind words. I also apologize for the very late response to your message as well. I started having anxiety and depression in my mid-20's (after graduating college and in the first five years of my career. It started small, but kept escalating. My head would feel like it's physically spinning, almost as if you're rotating your head in a circle to relieve your neck muscles. I also noticed that walking around town and keeping my mind full of stimuli and being out in public would stop it, but as soon as I would sit down at my desk or at home, the symptoms returned. It's like I couldn't wind down and relax or just sit still. I finally saw a doctor and was prescribed medication, which helped with managing the issue. If your rheumatologist doesn't come back with anything, it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor or psychiatrist and talk to them about your symptoms. Just don't do what many people (including myself at one point) did, which is to self-medicate the symptoms with alcohol or other drugs. In the end, it only masks the symptoms and it will absolutely cause other priorities and activities in your life to fall apart. If you're at that stage or considering it, definitely reach out and see a professional. I also saw some recent studies that link anxiety/depression in adults to them having untreated ADHD symptoms in childhood. If this is true, I would definitely fall into that category. Again, I appreciate your kind words. Let me know what you decide to do and if you find a solution that helps you manage what's going on. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:34, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Perfect timing on your part. I was just getting ready to post an update. It turns out that I likely have some form of autonomic dysfunction. At the GP's office today, my heart rate shot up from the 80's to the 130's in less than 30 seconds when going from lying down to standing up. I am getting tested more thoroughly on June 11. I must have had it for 15 years, because that explains nearly all of my problems.
- Unfortunately, it has gotten to the point where I haven't been able to work in weeks. I was just prescribed a class of medicines I have never been on. I hope this makes me feel more alert. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 05:47, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- The Knowledge Pirate - Hey, that's awesome - props to you... seriously! Acknowledging that you need professional help, then actually seeking that help from a professional is by far the most difficult and largest step to take. You may not think of what you did as a difficult (let alone the most difficult) step, but it really really is. I talk to many people who experience mental and psychological issues (sometimes even severe ones), and many of them will always come up with one reason or excuse after another, again and again, to avoid taking that first step and seeking professional help for themselves. It's really quite tragic, because I know that they deserve to be helped and they would benefit significantly from getting that help, but they just can't (or won't) bring themselves to do it. I mean, if you think of it like being assigned a large and daunting project in college or at work, the best thing to do when you don't want to touch it or work on it... is to just start it - even if that means just creating a new Microsoft Word document and adding a title page, saving it, then putting it aside. Of course, this situation is by no means the same as having a big project assigned with a due date, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about... ;-) The fact that you actually "crossed that river" and did what many people I talk to will commonly stall and never complete (for one interpersonal reason or another) is highly commendable. I'm happy that you did that.
- Some medications can take awhile before you feel any effects - up to a few weeks, so be patient and don't stop taking the medication. Just do exactly what you're asked to do, take the medication you're prescribed, make (and show up to) follow-up appointments, and you'll be on the right path. All you can go from here is up, and don't worry... from here moving forward, it all gets much easier and easier. It just might might take longer to get there than you think or want it to. Just don't give up, and don't let yourself fall backwards (such as missing medication doses, appointments, holding back how you're really feeling when you talk to them, etc). It's happened to me, it can happen to anyone (nobody is perfect), but if you make getting yourself well your top priority over everything else, it not only makes falling backwards much less likely to happen, the other important things in your life will naturally fall into place.
- Keep me updated! Again, I'm happy to hear that you started down the right path and that you're serious about getting yourself well. You deserve this! Don't let anyone (especially yourself) try and tell you differently! :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:49, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

How do I make a citation? --Youngblue2005 (talk) 01:49, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Youngblue2005 To create a citation, click the "cite" button in the top bar while editing, and then copy and paste the website into the text box under the "Automatic" section. Then, you click "Create" and, if everything looks good, click "Insert" and you have your citation. If you'd like to make a citation for something other than a website, you can use the "Manual" button and set the parameters yourself. Hope this helps! Greetings and salutations
I'm glad to hear that your surgery went as well as can be expected, and I hope that you get good biopsy news. I've been dealing with illness in my own family. One of my brothers died quite suddenly of complications of diabetes a few weeks ago, and one of my sisters is encountering significantly worsening diabetes just in the last week. The strange thing is that I don't have it and I am the oldest. Life is weird and random. Be well. Cullen328 (talk) 08:53, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Cullen328 - Dang... I'm sorry to hear about all of this. That's rough, and I hope you and your family is doing okay and is coping in a healthy way with the difficulties and situations. Life is indeed very strange at times, and it definitely is never fair. None of my family on either side have a history of brain-related issues like I just went through, so imagine my surprise (or perhaps my non-surprise given my symptoms) when they found the tumor growing in my head. I'm planning a trip tomorrow to go see extended family. We haven't yet had a death occur in the family, and given the age of my grandparents and some health situations with some family members, we're honestly long overdue. I wanted to make the trip because this might be the last opportunity to do so, along with the last time I might see one of them. It's reassuring to know that you don't have diabetes, but hey - it never hurts to stay vigilant and keep yourself healthy. I'll update everyone again once I hear back from the pathologist with my test results - likely this week. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:13, 9 June 2025 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) Hello, I see that in alignment with WP:BRD, you and other editors have taken the discussion to Talk:Volkswagen emissions scandal, which is the correct thing to do. Wikipedia is built on consensus, and the consensus appears (I'm not making a judgement here) to not be in favour of including the information you want to include. One of the key issues is WP:Reliable sources, which you might like to read up on before deciding to take the disagreement any further, such as Wikipedia:Dispute resolution requests/Guide. Hope this helps. Come back here if not. Thanks. Tony Holkham (Talk) 22:55, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Adigesi! Welcome to Wikipedia! As Tony Holkham touched on above, you'll want to review Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources. Generally, YouTube videos don't qualify. If you have books and newspapers to reference, make sure that you cite them properly. If you have questions about this, please let one of us know and we'll be happy to help you further. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:17, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from Chaesonghwa (00:08, 24 May 2025)
Hi,
I’ve made a small edit to the “Replication cycle” section to correct a common misunderstanding about the Central Dogma. The original text incorrectly stated that reverse transcription contradicts the Central Dogma, but as you know, the Central Dogma refers to the general flow of genetic information and codon redundancy—not a prohibition on reverse transcription.
Would you mind reviewing the change when you have a moment? I want to make sure the correction aligns with Wikipedia's standards.
Thanks, \Chaesonghwa --Chaesonghwa (talk) 00:08, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Chaesonghwa I am not remotely an expert on this topic, but your edit looks good to me! Rusalkii (talk) 04:51, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much.
- For context, when DNA or RNA is translated into amino acids, each amino acid is encoded by a sequence of three nucleotides, known as a codon. There are 20 amino acids used in biological systems, but there are 64 possible codons, meaning that multiple codons can code for the same amino acid. A feature known as redundancy or degeneracy of the genetic code. Because of this, it is not possible to determine the exact original nucleotide sequence from the amino acid sequence alone. This concept is related to the central dogma of molecular biology, which describes the flow of genetic information as DNA → RNA → protein. It is important to note that this process of translation is distinct from transcription (DNA → RNA) and reverse transcription (RNA → DNA). Chaesonghwa (talk) 20:41, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Chaesonghwa! Sorry for the late reply. I've been out due to medical issues that I'm still recovering from. I remember some biology that I took in school, but like Rusalkii stated, I'm certainly no expert. That being said, your edits don't have any red flags that I can find. Good work! Please let me know if I can assist you with anything else. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:19, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Oshwah,
- I'm sorry to hear you have had medical related issues. I hope you are able to get these sorted and you can once again be in good health. I appreciate the time you've taken to reply and provide feedback.
- All the best. Chaesonghwa (talk) 22:53, 18 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from MarkLLawson (09:17, 26 May 2025)
Hi! I was wondering if you have any good feedback on what would be good credible sources for music artists. I really want to cover the italo disco scene in Berlin (Franz Scala, Fabrizio Mammarella, Slow Motion Records), some artists from Portugal (Xinobi, Moullinex, Madd Rod) and Brazil (Noporn, Jup do Bairro, etc), as well as the new club institutions in Berlin (RSO.BERLIN for instance). Any good leads would be amazing. --MarkLLawson (talk) 09:17, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- @MarkLLawson, the best sources are usually reviews of the artists' music or profiles in newspapers. Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources may be a good resource. If you're creating new articles, you may also want to review WP:NMUSIC for the criteria used to decide if something should have a standalone article. Rusalkii (talk) 04:49, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi MarkLLawson! The links that Rusalkii provided above are great places to start; they provide in-depth information that you'll want to review and understand. If you have questions, please let us know and we'll be happy to answer them. Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:21, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Oshwahand @Rusalkii people contacted me on discord asking for my email address only to then try and sell me their help on getting my first article published. Is there any chance this was the reason why it wasn't approved (someone wanting to profit from it)? I'm looking for better sources to improve my first article submission, as it was declined... The sources I had used were: the artist label's official website (for history), an reviews from specialized Portuguese, Turkish and German music magazines reviews. Also an article about a release from the largest electronic music store Beatport... But apparently it's not enough. Feel free to give me your opinion on Draft:Madd_Rod, so that I can move with my other projects! MarkLLawson (talk) 10:20, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Theroadislong is a well-respected editor who I would be shocked to learn was involved in anything of the sort. What discord was this? This is unfortunately a reasonably common genre of scam: the scammer finds a declined article, and says only if you pay them they can get the article accepted. The Wikipedia guidelines for paid editors say that they must disclose which articles they work on and who they are being paid by. Any paid editor that fails to do so is violating the terms of service, and the vast majority of these paid editors do not disclose, and use this fact to pretend that volunteer editors are part of their group.
- About the article itself, have you tried asking Theroadislong what they thought was wrong with the sources? Rusalkii (talk) 19:24, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- I haven't looked at Discord for a long time but I can assure everyone I am NOT involved in any paid scams! As to the sources hoer.live, Inner Shah Recordings, mutingthenoise.com and music apple are primary sources so of no use and Vague Visages ref doesn’t mention him. Sources need to be independent, reliable and in-depth covering the topic in significant detail. Theroadislong (talk) 19:41, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Here from Wikipediocracy
Someone there posted about your health. I'm so sorry, I had no idea. My very best wishes for an excellent recovery. And in the meantime, I hope you're being very well looked after and fed well. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:41, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
Me too. Hadn't crossed paths with your edits in quite a long time. Best wishes for recovery, and looking forward to seeing you in wild(er) hair again soon. – wbm1058 (talk) 14:18, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yngvadottir, wbm1058 - No worries! I'm in the recovery phase and things are slowly getting better. I'm no longer waking up to pounding migraines, and I've stopped taking anti-seizure meds. Now to get myself cleared by my neurologist to drive and maybe grow out my hair again... ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:29, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yay! The ping led to my seeing your latest update. Best news this week by far. I hope you don't need your neurologist's clearance to regrow your hair. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:34, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Yngvadottir - HA! Not that I'm aware of! ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:50, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

Question from IainDW (00:20, 27 May 2025)
Hi! I would like to create my own page on Wikipedia about notable family members. How do I go about this? --IainDW (talk) 00:20, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- When you say "your own page", if you mean a Wikipedia article, then it needs to be established whether your family members are notable in the Wikipedia, sense, so have a look at Wikipedia:Notability. If you mean creating a user page, which is not part of the published encyclopedia, then, within reason, you can write what you like, within certain parameters, for which see Wikipedia:User pages. However, bear in mind that Wikipedia is not a substitute for a free website. Hope this helps, but come back here for more help if you need to. Tony Holkham (Talk) 20:54, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi IainDW! To add to Tony Holkham's response above: You'll also want to review Wikipedia's policies and guidelines on conflict of interest. To summarize: Wikipedia highly discourages users from creating articles, editing articles, or even participating in discussions regarding articles where you have a vested conflict of interest with. Since you're expressing the desire to create Wikipedia pages about family members, this will naturally draw concerns. You'll also want to give Wikipedia's policy on no original research a read-through as well. Please let me know if you have any questions about these pages, and I'll be happy to answer them and assist you further. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:35, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Question from Tonycrockett74 (20:10, 29 May 2025)
Howdy! I don't know how to do this so perhaps you point me in the right direction. I'm trying to write an autobiography of myself and my company Crockett Media Services. --Tonycrockett74 (talk) 20:10, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Writing an article about oneself is strongly discouraged - see Wikipedia:Autobiography. Tony Holkham (Talk) 20:41, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- I should add, though, that if you or your company are notable in the Wikipedia sense - see WP:Notability - then someone else could be encouraged to write for you, provided they declare any contractual or financial interest. Hope this helps - please come back here if you need any further advice. Best wishes, Tony Holkham (Talk) 21:22, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Tonycrockett74! Welcome to Wikipedia! As Tony Holkham stated above, Wikipedia You should really go through Wikipedia's policies and guidelines regarding autobiographies. In short, they're highly discouraged and I advise you to not waste your time trying to create one; out of the 100 autobiography articles that editors create for themselves, I'd say that nearly all of them get deleted. If your company is notable, then another Wikipedia editor will undoubtedly create an article for it; I would not create it yourself due to you having an obvious conflict of interest with the article subject. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer them and assist you further. :-D Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:52, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Question from Metal Knight 2004 on Megadeth (19:53, 31 May 2025)
Hello. I want to make an edit on Megadeth, legacy. On sepultura there are 2 ref links attached, and I don't know which one should I delete. Can you help me? Thank you. --Metal Knight 2004 (talk) 19:53, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- You can have more than one link for one item of information; if one link becomes obsolete, there is another. Unless the links disagree with each other in some way, in which case I would keep the more recent one. Hope this helps. Come back here if you need more information on this. Tony Holkham (Talk) 20:01, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Metal Knight 2004! Welcome to Wikipedia! I apologize for the late response. I've been recovering from a medical issue, and I'm just now getting myself caught up with all of the Wikipedia messages, emails, pings, discussions, etc that I've been sent. :-) If you read the page and click on the reference notation link (it will look like this: "[1]"), you should be able to see which reference to remove. From there, you can edit the page and remove the reference from the article text. Is there a reason that the reference needs to be removed? What exactly is the issue that you're seeing? If you're seeing that the same reference is being used more than once on the same article, this is normal as content contained in a single reference can support different content that's added and spread throughout the article for ease-of-reading and relevance (such as keeping relevant content within their own sections or areas). If you have any further questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:08, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Progress?
How's it going? This couple of weeks must have been quite difficult, but I hope there is some improvement. I hope you don't mind that I have answered some of the questions arriving for you in your absence. Good luck, and all good wishes. T. Tony Holkham (Talk) 20:04, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Tony Holkham! No, I don't mind at all. In fact, it's been very helpful! The assistance has helped me to recover knowing that other users are responding on my user talk page and guiding our new users here. Things are getting better; My results came back negative for cancer, I'm not waking up with pounding migraines each morning anymore, and I'm off the anti-seizure medication. I'm hoping to be cleared to drive again on my next appointment with my neurologist which will be in July. That's been the biggest thing that's been holding me back from being able to resume my life as usual - being able to drive. I'll update my subpage on the matter as soon as I have any to share. Thanks again for all of the help; It means a lot to me. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:14, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
