Discussion on simplifying this template

[edit]

I noticed that the template categorizes malls by district then type of mall, which is fine, but the repetition of the type of mall is jarring to look at. Other templates like Template:Shopping malls in Singapore don't even categorize location or mall type, Template:Shopping Malls in Metro Vancouver and Template:New York City Malls only uses location/city, and the Florida mall templates except for the one for Tampa Bay Area all use mall type per specific area template. I think the template should be simplified by either removing district, type of mall, or both, or possibly splitting the template into district-specific templates. • I just did a quick look, and honestly, some of these malls are probably due for AFD, as the sources are just routine mentions, not WP:significant coverage. One way to simplify would be to thin the herd a bit, then limit it to blue links only. The way it is categorized is odd, I agree. Districts don't bother me if they are actual geographical locations, btw. The big thing, to me, is taking a hard look at WP:GNG first, and seeing what belongs and what doesn't, as we are WP:Not a directory and not every shopping center must be listed, just the notable, major ones. I agree that at least the mall type should go. It's supposed to be explained in List of shopping malls in Metro Manila but there are no cites supporting these type definitions --Lenticel (talk) 02:30, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
