Template talk:Mentor welcome
Attribution
[edit]I've copied and pasted a little bit of the code from {{welcome cookie}}. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 14:57, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- I've added some phrasing from User:FormalDude/UW-metor. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 23:06, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
Issue
[edit]Seems to be a bug with this template. Namely, the message says that the last person to edit the page on which it's posted is the mentor. You can see this if you click on previous revisions of talk pages. Eg I see some bots saying they're someone's mentor or the user is their own mentor. Paris1127 (talk) 01:17, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Paris1127 In this situation, is subst: being put in front of Welcome mentor (so, {{subst:Welcome mentor}})? I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 02:00, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- It is not. It solely says {{Mentor welcome}}. Paris1127 (talk) 02:15, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Paris1127 That's likely the problem. This template requires the subst: at the beginning, per the documentation on the template page that states
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:Mentor welcome}}).

Out of date?
[edit]I'm sure I read somewhere while signing up as a mentor that all new users now automatically get assigned a mentor, so I think the part about only half being assigned is out of date. Can someone more experienced with the programme look into this and change the template if necessary. Adam Black talk • contribs 14:43, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
