  • Source: The rest of Spix and Martius's specimens remained at the Zoologische Staatssammlung München but were destroyed during a bombing raid in 1944 (Terofal, 1983 and Kottelat, 1988). I was unable to locate any specimen of Cynodon gibbus potentially used by Agassiz as a basis for his description and it may have been destroyed. [1]
