... that Yuval Raphael, who is set to represent Israel at Eurovision 2025, survived the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel by hiding under dead bodies for eight hours? Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceve4ww7n90o

- Comment: Partial driveby nom; if this is still open when the song is announced I may add that to the nomination.

- I have taken it upon myself to review this DYK nomination.Davidbena (talk) 14:11, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- One important comment that I have to make here is that the main article mentions her having "survived the blast by hiding under dead bodies inside a bomb shelter for eight hours," when the main article gives the impression that there were several blasts on that fateful day. Perhaps the article can be amended to read "...she survided the blasts," etc.Davidbena (talk) 14:24, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

- Apologies, I thought you meant the attack article. Raphael's one has been reworded a bit since I last looked at it but given that 'blasts' no longer appears in the article and the only applicable word I can see is 'grenades', I think your concern's been resolved.--Launchballer 04:54, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, it looks good then. I, personally, think that the article is ready for DYK release, as the article is new enough, long enough, neutral and well-sourced. The hook is short-enough and is defintely "catchy." To the best of my knowledge, there are no copyright violations.Davidbena (talk) 11:45, 26 January 2025 (UTC)

Change "she began singing professionally in 2023" to "she began singing professionally in 2025", which is when she won Eurovision and issued her first song.
The claim that she started singing professionally in 2023 is not supported by the footnote provided. To the contrary, at her first audition in late 2024 (when she sang "Anyone"), Judge/Singer Shiri Maimon comments that she (Shiri) is nervous because Yuval never sang on a stage before. (Source - The first 5 seconds of this video: https://www.google.com/search?q=yuval+raphal+all+performances+eurovision&rlz=1CDGOYI_enAU987AU987&oq=yuval+raphal+all+performances+eu&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqCQgBECEYChigATIGCAAQRRg5MgkIARAhGAoYoAEyCQgCECEYChigATIJCAMQIRgKGKAB0gEJMTI2MjVqMGo0qAICsAIB4gMEGAEgXw&hl=en-GB&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:e0708f31,vid:OAEF_uI1ds8,st:0 .) This article also states that her audition was the first time Yuval sang on a professional stage. https://www.ynetnews.com/culture/article/bk3w4wx3kl#
I'd further argue it would also be inaccurate to say she started singing professionally in 2024, as most people likely wouldn't consider an audition itself to be "singing professionally" as in a career. Absent evidence of an alternate career in singing, I think it's most accurate to say she started singing professionally once she won Eurovision in 2025. Or alternatively, to phrase it as the YNet article does, that her first time singing on a professional stage was when she auditioned for the show in 2024. 14.203.158.2 (talk) 06:33, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit]According to the Israeli Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, she is partly Azerbaijani. I think it’s worth mentioning in the relevant section.[1] 178.240.238.161 (talk) 20:56, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
