Original research?
[edit]User:Dtrebbien, you have twice tagged this article for OR, and I wonder if you could explain please what you are on about... thanks... Johnfos (talk) 03:25, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sure. The inline original research?, {{or}}, is after an example of what I mean, but I will go through the parts which I feel are original (not published):
- "[O]ne of the few PV manufactures that has developed a vertically integrated supply chain" is OR because the claim that the company is "one of the few" has not been cited, and it is unclear (uncited) that the company indeed uses a "vertically integrated supply chain".
- "[Trina Solar produces] high quality modules" is not cited. (Which independent entity has stated that Trina Solar's modules are higher in quality than other companies'?)
- Finally, how does a vertically integrated supply chain "help to ensure" that high quality products are delivered? (This needs an independent ref.)
- « D. Trebbien (talk) 18:07 2008 June 15 (UTC)
- Note that the "About Trina Solar Limited" section of the TechWeb press release seems to have come from the company's website. « D. Trebbien (talk) 18:12 2008 June 15 (UTC)
I think you're being very picky, but have made some changes that I hope will suffice... Johnfos (talk) 01:18, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed Wikipedia Edit – June 2025
[edit]Hello editors, I would like to propose an updated version of the Trina Solar article to reflect recent, well-documented developments in global operations, European presence, product innovation, and ESG performance. The content below is based on Trinasolar’s public 2025 presentations and third-party sources. I welcome your feedback.
Company Overview: Trinasolar Co., Ltd. is a China‑based solar energy solutions provider founded in 1997 and headquartered in Changzhou, Jiangsu. As of year‑end 2024, the company had shipped more than 260 GW of photovoltaic modules globally. It operates vertically integrated manufacturing from wafers to modules, including energy storage and mounting systems across multiple continents.[1]
European Operations: Trinasolar has maintained a regional presence in Europe for over 19 years, with at least 11 local offices and over 250 employees across Germany, Spain, Italy, France, the UK, and the Netherlands. In Spain, it operates a manufacturing and R&D centre for TrinaTracker systems. By the end of 2024, Trinasolar had delivered more than 58 GW of solar modules and over 2 GWh of energy storage systems in Europe.[1]
Product Innovation: Trinasolar achieved mass production of the Vertex N series 700 W+ n‑type i‑TOPCon modules in August 2023, becoming the first manufacturer to do so.[2] In April 2024, its 210 mm n‑type module reached 740.6 W, setting a world record.[3] These high-output modules help reduce LCOE in utility-scale projects.[4] In 2024, the company also introduced the world’s first fully recycled crystalline silicon module.[5]
ESG and Certifications: Two of Trinasolar’s factories were the first to complete ESG assessments under the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI), earning Silver certification.[6] Trinasolar has also received an AA rating for supply chain traceability from TÜV Rheinland and complies with SA8000 social accountability standards.[1]
Projects in Europe: Notable recent European projects include: Sandon Brook (UK) – 49.9 MW PV and 70 MWh storage; Valcasado Solar Park (Spain) – 22 MWp; and Przykona Solar Park (Poland) – 200 MWp. These installations often combine Trinasolar’s modules, mounting systems, and energy storage solutions.[1]
- This reads like a press release from your company; Wikipedia articles are not for companies to tell about themselves, their offerings/activities, or what they see as their history. I'm actually skeptical that the company merits an article at all- unless there are independent reliable sources that on their own, and not based on materials from the company, chosen to write about it and show how the company meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. 331dot (talk) 08:58, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello. Firstly I would like to disclose that I work for Trinasolar, and I’m submitting this request in line with Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guidelines. I will not directly edit the article.
I would like to propose updating the article’s title and the way the company is referred to throughout the article — from “Trina Solar” (two words) to “Trinasolar” (one word), to reflect the company’s brand and trademark.
Rationale:
The company brands itself globally as “Trinasolar” — as one word — and has a trademark consistent with this.
Updating the article title and usage would reflect how the company is commonly known and branded in the real world, consistent with Wikipedia’s naming conventions for companies and the guideline to use commonly recognizable names.
Suggested wording for lead sentence:
Trinasolar (legally Trina Solar Co., Ltd.; Chinese: 天合光能有限公司) is a Chinese photovoltaics company founded in 1997.

- Please see WP:COMMONNAME; Wikipedia does not necessarily use official or legal names as titles. As an example, Bill Clinton, not William Jefferson Clinton(his current legal name) or William Jefferson Blythe(his legal name at birth). To be frank, we aren't concerned with your company's brand or trademarks. What matters here is what reliable sources use, and from what I can see most of them use "Trina" or "Trina Solar". We note in the first line of this article that the brand name is Trinasolar. Perhaps as time goes, Trinasolar will become the common name, but it isn't yet, and as such I oppose this move. 331dot (talk) 09:50, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your consideration and time and we appreciate your explanation. The reason for us sharing this recommendation is that Trinasolar is now becoming more commonly used than the official legal name of Trina Solar Inc. However, we leave it with your decision and determination on what is best. Thanks again. Mike at Trina Solar Europe (talk) 13:32, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
