Lead image

[edit]

@Redraiderengineer: I saw your edit summary, "The lead image should be representative and not primarily decorative per the MoS." The portion of the MoS that I believe is relevant says,

Lead images should be natural and appropriate representations of the topic; they should not only illustrate the topic specifically, but also be the type of image used for similar purposes in high-quality reference works, and therefore what our readers will expect to see. Lead images are not required, and not having a lead image may be the best solution if there is no easy representation of the topic.

Since a typical phone today is a smartphone, not an AT&T push-button landline, isn't a picture of a smartphone a more "natural and appropriate representation... of the topic"? Luke10.27 (talk) 03:46, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Innocenzo Manzetti was the inventor of the telephone

[edit]

Innocenzo Manzetti was the inventor of the telephone, Bell copied his invention and I try to buy Manzetti's patents. Where can I send you the sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.29.207.158 (talk) 08:36, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to list them here. It's a talk page so don't worry about making them look nice. But they need to be good because Innocenzo Manzetti#Speaking telegraph (telephone) says that there is no evidence to support it. That could be wrong, of course. --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 15:33, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Manzetti's patents are for sale?? He died in 1877, so who gets the money? But even if you do buy one, I'm not sure you'll make a lot of money. People prefer Apple iPhones these days. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:38, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
p.s. the Manzetti article says "Although he did not patent his device it was reported in Paris, and likely in the press around the world." So you might find it tricky to buy one? Martinevans123 (talk) 15:53, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
i think you are being unkind to a contributor whose first language is not English. I thought it rather obvious that they meant that Bell had tried to buy the patents. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 18:16, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
