Major rewrite and update – May 2025

[edit]

This article was comprehensively rewritten and expanded in May 2025 to bring it up to date and in line with current Wikipedia standards. The update includes:

  • Verified and cited history of the Trust (from its founding in 1985 to present)
  • Expanded sections on mission, outreach, education, governance, and partnerships
  • Detailed, tabulated list of nature reserves with images, alt text, and habitat information
  • Accurate and verifiable references from official sources, including annual reports, news articles, and the Trust's own website
  • Accessibility improvements (alt text, responsive tables)
  • Compliance with Manual of Style, BLP policy, and citation formatting

If you notice any inaccuracies or omissions, feel free to raise them here or make improvements. Many thanks! Deejayone (talk) 14:16, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

2025 Page Move

[edit]

This article was moved in May 2025 from Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham to Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust to reflect the organisation's current branding and public name, as seen on its website (wildsheffield.com) and social media. While the legal entity may still be registered as "Sheffield Wildlife Trust", the ampersand version is consistently used in official communications and is the recognised public name.

The older discussion below from 2012–2014 reflects an earlier period and does not appear to reflect the current status. Deejayone (talk) 11:24, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Name and Identity (Historical Discussion)

[edit]

We're known as the Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham. Our legal name is Sheffield Wildlife Trust. We'd rather not be called Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust. If we can help in any way, email me on website@wildsheffield.com Many thanks! (and apologies if I've stepped on any protocol, I'm unfamiliar with this end of Wikipedia) 78.33.187.2 (talk) 09:13, 23 May 2012 (UTC) Communications Officer, the Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham[reply]

I see that the webpage http://www.wildsheffield.com/ quite clearly uses the name Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust. Perhaps you have changed the name of your organization? I also note that the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust has two entries, the other being under the legal name Sheffield_Wildlife_Trust. I am seeking the advice of User:Keith_D one of the admins as to how these issues should be resolved. Waugh Bacon (talk) 11:28, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request for assessment update

[edit]

Following the comprehensive rewrite and expansion of this article in May 2025, I believe it may now qualify as Start-class or higher.

The article now includes:

  • Well-sourced history and development of the Trust
  • Expanded content on mission, activities, education, governance, partnerships, and projects
  • Fully tabulated nature reserves section with images, alt text, and citations
  • References to official websites, news articles, and annual reports
  • Formatting and compliance with Wikipedia’s Manual of Style, BLP policy, and accessibility standards

Please could a WikiProject Yorkshire member reassess its current Stub-class rating? Many thanks! Deejayone (talk) 14:16, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
