Erroneous foundation of Real Madrid CF
[edit]Real Madrid CF was officially founded on April 22, 1902 (legally constituted sports entity). March 6 was the constitution of the board of directors, but not the creation of the club at an official level. There are many articles and documents that prove this. You can see for example: [1] 213.143.48.242 (talk) 09:47, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- Totally agree. The Real Madrid foundation date was officially on April 22. 185.124.28.115 (talk) 16:11, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
Article review
[edit]It has been a while since this article has been reviewed, so I took a look and saw lots of uncited statements. I also saw that this article is over 12,000 words, and I think there is lots of information that can be moved to other articles or removed as too much detail. Should this article go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 17:12, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Content removed? What content? Unless you cite examples of what could be moved, I don't think it would be a good idea considering how iconic and notable this club is. Thank you Servite et contribuere (talk) 17:33, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Servite et contribuere: WP:TOOBIG recommends splitting articles that are over 9,000 words and articles on more notable topics, like Earth, achieve this. Shorter articles also allow readers to focus on the most important information, with more specific information presented in other articles. I always recommend that subject-matter experts spin out and trim the article first as they are more likely to identify the most important information. After taking a skim through the article, here are some places where I think the text might be reduced:
- The lead, which is longer than most Wikipedia articles (WP:LEAD used to recommend 4 paragraphs, and these paragraphs seem to be quite long).
- The History section, especially 2009-present: While earlier periods of the club's history have a couple of paragraphs, post-2009 has 5 sub-sections and 18 paragraphs. This makes me think that there is article bloat from after this article was promoted to GA status.
- The "El Clásico" section (under rivalries) has very large paragraphs: perhaps there is too much detail or prose that can be more concise.
- "Finances and ownership": some of the ownership information should probably be mentioned in "History", which would reduce the prose here.
- Those are my suggestions, and I am happy to comment on any suggestions others have. This article length concern is in addition to the uncited text concern. Z1720 (talk) 18:00, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

Champions?
[edit]Why does the page say Madrid are champions of La Liga. They are not, they placed second with 84 points, 4 under Barcelona’s 88. 2600:4040:4477:E900:D56E:CB39:CFE:6BE6 (talk) 01:10, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

It says that Real Madrid are champions of the 2024-2025 season. They are not. They placed second with 84 points, 4 under Barcelona’s 88. 2600:4040:4477:E900:D56E:CB39:CFE:6BE6 (talk) 01:13, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
