- ... that Czech footballer Radim Novák conceded a goal directly from a corner in 2011?

New enough (nominated within 6 days of start of 5x expansion), long enough (1653 characters). AGF on sources; looks adequately sourced (mostly Czech but also German references) with citations throughout. Neutrally written. QPQ is in progress. This leaves the hook. I have literally spent hours agonising over this hook: Is it really interesting? Is it unfairly implicating the goalkeeper? How rare is it to concede a goal from the corner? I even found myself watching a compilation of all Premier League goals scored directly from the corner and concluded that scoring a goal directly from a corner feels like it's more about the player who cleverly angled it in rather than the keeper and defenders who somehow didn't manage to stop it. That said, I know how hard it is to write good football hooks, especially for goalkeepers, and as far as these things go, you could argue it's actually an elegant hook, and the fact that it caused me to click on it and ponder it for so long means that it did its job. In the end, I'm inclined to pass this hook, but before I do, I thought I should ask @Cloudz679: Can you come up with any ALTs? Perhaps it's interesting that his club went on to win the league that year despite the miserable opening match? Cielquiparle (talk) 07:08, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Cielquiparle: Thanks for starting the review. Maybe a 'comeback' perspective could be more 'hooky'. How about this:
- ALT1 ... that despite Czech football goalkeeper Radim Novák conceding an Olimpico goal in the first game of the season, his team went on to win the 2011–12 Czech 2. Liga?
C679 07:28, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Cloudz679: ALT1 is now packing in too much detail. The hook still needs to omit just enough information to make the reader want to click. Also, if you include too many blue links to other articles, no one will read the main article you are nominating. How about this? Cielquiparle (talk) 09:00, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- ALT2: ... that despite Radim Novák conceding a goal from a corner kick during the first match of the season, his team went on to win the league?
- ALT2a:
... that despite Radim Novák conceding a goal from a corner kick during the first match of the season, his team went on to win the league in 2012?

- @Cielquiparle: yes, prefer without the 2012 as the goal was in 2011. C679 12:28, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Request another reviewer to take a look at ALT2 (since I'm the main reviewer and I wrote it) and approve if it looks OK. Personally I think ALT0 is ok; I don't like ALT1 but would also not reject it. Thanks in advance. Cielquiparle (talk) 12:57, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
I prefer ALT2, which is in the article and sourced. Using machine translation, the sources do check out, but I'm marking this as a foreign-language AGF. Good to go. Tenpop421 (talk) 02:33, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
