Year of birth

[edit]

I notice IMdB says he was born in 1912, not 1913. -- JackofOz (talk) 03:57, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of several reasons why IMDB is an unreliable source. Canonblack (talk) 13:29, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Besides acting, Fröbe was a prolific reciter of lyric poetry, especially that of Christian Morgenstern and Joachim Ringelnatz.[citation needed]

[edit]

Citation needed??? Why is there no citation needed for the fact he was an actor?

Here you can buy a CD of him reciting Morgenstern and Kästner (http://www.amazon.de/Fr%C3%B6be-liest-Christian-Morgenstern-K%C3%A4stner/dp/3036912894) here you can hear him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oeWdr-1W-E --Titule (talk) 20:15, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No citation is needed to support the claim he was an actor because he appeared in several very high profile films that exist as a matter of record. Several of the roles claimed for him are supported by citations. The claim that he recited poetry is not widely known, cannot be easily verified and cannot be generally experienced without the links you've provided. Those links refer to the same CD, which does not support the claim that he was a prolific reciter of poetry; how do we know this wasn't the only instance in which he did so? If you can find a reliable, quotable source describing his career as a poetry reader, you are free to add it and remove the tag. Canonblack (talk) 13:35, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Little Vampire auf Englisch?

[edit]

The last line of the Filmography says that Fröbe played in The Little Vampire as Detective Gurrmeyer.

He played in Der Kleine Vampir as Geiermeier. "The Little Vampire" is the correct translation of the title, but that was not the title. Unless there is some reason that I'm not aware of that the English title and "Gurrmeyer" were chosen. But you can find him on YouTube. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skippythewonderhoohoo (talkcontribs) 19:37, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sergeant Kaffekanne

[edit]

You might want to check: my memory is, supported by a superficial search online, that Fröbe's character was credited as 'Sergeant Kaffeeklatsch.'

Perhaps this was for British & European prints. JF42 (talk) 07:56, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Membership in the NSDAP in 1929 not possible

[edit]

Till 1944 the minimum age for membership was 18 years "Gemäß Anordnung 1/44 des Reichsschatzmeisters vom 07.01.1944 wurde hinsichtlich der Aufnahme von weiblichen und männlichen HJ-Angehörigen der Jahrgänge 1926 und 1927 verfügt, dass das Aufnahmealter von 18 auf 17 Jahre herabzusetzen war."(bundesarchiv.de). In 1929 Fröbe was only 16 years. There are other sources claiming he entered the party 1934. --Cethegus (talk) 17:58, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The German source for the text in the article writes "Daraus, dass er in die NSDAP eintrat, weil er mit 16 hoffte «Hitler könne eine Lösung bringen», hat er keinen Hehl gemacht". It does not mention the year 1929. That is the reason why mistacingly his entry was dated for 1929. In 1929 there was no reason for a 16 year old boy to suppose that Hitler would find a solution for him. The NSDAP was still a rather small party. Theat changed not before 1932 and "Reichskanzler" he became not before 1933. --Cethegus (talk) 18:14, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
