This page and the page regarding all subspecies of Canis Lupus list different dates of extinction, 1934 vs 1908 respectively. Whatever date is chosen, it should be listed consistently. 67.166.113.142 (talk) 13:37, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This article is ridiculous. The red Wolf is not extinct, you can see some at the Brevard Zoo in Florida; they are endangered. The black Wolf was also spotted in the panhandle a few years back and is believed to be back too. 185.191.217.116 (talk) 06:24, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am adding a "Disputed" tag to the article due to the lack of verifiable sources and notability (see Wikipedia:Notability), as well as the article itself saying "one source believes the Florida black wolf to be a type of coyote, rather than a separate subspecies of red wolf". I also cannot find any evidence of studies done on the Florida black wolf, including DNA studies, or even if any specimens of this subspecies exist. The black wolf is definitely not extinct. I seen it with my own 2 eyes. February or March of 2025. Saw it on Roosevelt Blvd in St. Petersburg Florida. At first I thought it was just a raccoon or opossum crossing until I got closer. Very small coyote size. I seen one of the regular great wolves on little road in New Port Richey as well. Thought it was a coyote as well because of coloration but it was a much larger version of the coyote way to big to be a coyote. Seen in December 2024 or January of 2025. I can show exactly where that particular wolf crossed the road but the black would be more of general area because I didn’t think nothing of a black wolf until I saw a show on tv with a fella who came to Hudson searching for the black wolf. 2600:1009:B120:BDA4:1155:AF45:D62B:DA39 (talk) 01:07, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
