Fishing Pole (chess) → Fishing pole (chess) – Most chess opening articles use the title format of "Example Opening Gambit: Cheese Defense", while some sources online simply say "The fishing pole, blah blah" and not "The Fishing Pole, blah blah". Henceforth, I propose we change the capitalization of the word "Pole" in the page title. The Master of Hedgehogs (talk) (contributions) (Sign my guestbook!) 13:48, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Comment A look at Category:Chess traps shows that Fishing Pole Trap or Fishing pole Trap would be the most likely title. 162 etc. (talk) 17:22, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Weak oppose: The capitalization of named chess openings on Wikipedia is enshrined in MOS:GAMECAPS. In practice, this seems to also apply to named attacks, gambits and traps. In any case, this trap is described as an opening trap, and everything else in Category:Chess traps is capitalized. Please let's not do Fishing pole Trap – that just gives me a headache. If there's partial lowercasing, it would be Fishing Pole trap or Fishing Pole (chess trap) or Fishing Pole (trap), not Fishing pole Trap. If I was looking for a lowercasing opportunity among chess articles, I'd start somewhere else, like Semi-Closed Game (MOS:HYPHENCAPS) or Scotch Game, Classical Variation. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:08, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose and speedy close per MOS:GAMECAPS, please don't nominate chess moves, openings, etc. for lowercasing. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:39, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- What do you think of Fishing Pole Trap? This seems more in line with similar articles. 162 etc. (talk) 17:00, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
