Is this page even needed?

[edit]

Do we need a separate page on Ireland's EEZ? More information is available on exclusive economic zone#Ireland including the Rockall dispute, and the Russian controversy has its own page.

If there are no objections I propose changing this page to redirect to exclusive economic zone#Ireland Finestat (talk) 18:37, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As there are no replies, I have redirected this article to exclusive economic zone#Ireland which contains more detailed history of the evolution of Ireland's EEZ. That page also includes more information on the Rockall dispute, which also has its own page Rockall Bank dispute. The so-called Russian military exercise controversy also has its own page 2022 Russian military exercise in the Irish EEZ controversy. Simply copying content from exclusive economic zone isn't enough to justify keeping this stub article and causes content forking. Finestat (talk) 18:35, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's a limited approach to calling a debate (with only a few hundred edits, I respectfully wonder if you have fully explored our policies and collective ways of working?) - did you ping the article creator and other involved parties, notify one or more Wikiprojects, etc.? I can see the issue / question about the article's standing, but I'm not sure that it's really content forking to have a dedicated article while also having a relevant section in a global article. My own position would be that the global mention should exist but be brief (briefer than now), and a dedicated article could explore the topic properly. But anyway, I think the main requirement is to have had a proper discussion before effectively deleting out - Autarch, for example, might comment? SeoR (talk) 20:29, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand a brief mention in a global article of, say, Presidents, with a detailed article of Irish Presidents. But exclusive economic zone#Ireland has one paragraph which neatly summarises the history of Ireland's EEZ, its size, etc, with appropriate references. What more detail could be added that would require a dedicated page? Doesn't that violate WP:CFORK?
Also bare in mind that prior to April, exclusive economic zone#Ireland only mentioned the so-called controversy of the Russian military exercises in 2022, which was of trivial interest at best. And there was no mention of the Rockall in exclusive economic zone#disputes which is of interest.
I have had people delete my edits within minutes, with no effort to engage. I gave the community six weeks notice of my intent. Or does WP:BOLD have two meanings depending on context? Finestat (talk) 18:20, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
