Fair use rationale for Image:Czech RM70 01.jpg
[edit]
Image:Czech RM70 01.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Factual errors and outdated info
[edit]Detailed info about the Czech Air Force is outdated and contains factual errors. Could it just link to the specific article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Balooo(cz) (talk • contribs) 10:00, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Unclear
[edit]Quoting the article: "the Czech Republic is completing a major overhaul of the extensive Czechoslovak Armed Forces"
Is the Czech Republic overhauling both the Czech "portion" and the Slovak "portion" of the former Czechoslovak Armed Forces?
Or were the two portions separated when the Czech Republic and Slovakia became separate countries? If the latter is true, then maybe the Czech Republic is only "overhauling" the Czech portion.
Just wondering. Thanks, Wanderer57 (talk) 20:32, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- The whole article is a mess as a result of converting the "Czechoslovak Army" one into this one. The CS section (1918-1992) should be split into a history article (with CSLA as its subsection) and this article should focus on CZ Army from 1993 onwards same as the Slovak articles do. For thos wondering about original question: Yes, the CS Military was split 2:1 in 1993 (based on population of 10:5 mil betweekn CZ and SK) with the exception of several units - Mig-29 figters were split 9:9 and more rare systems were split by some systems remaining only in CZ and some only in SK. Like S200 air defense in CZ and then-new S300-PMU in SK. 46.135.41.8 (talk) 22:28, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Czech Ground Forces
[edit]I have begun to split out the info and details of the Czech Ground Forces into its own article. As I can't do it all on my own, other editors are welcome to help. noclador (talk) 21:57, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
Czechoslovak People's Army Structure in 1989
[edit]I expanded the English en:Czechoslovak People's Army article with all the info about the en:Czechoslovak army, air defence and air force in 1989 that I could find. I am sure the info is correct and nearly complete, however I still need more info on Electronic Warfare, Pontoon, and Long Distance Signal Communication regiments. Also I might have missed some units. Therefore if anyone has information or corrections, please feel free to either add it directly to the article or leave it on my talk page. Thanks, noclador (talk) 17:45, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Army of the Czech Republic → Czech Armed Forces – The Army of the Czech Republic is a literal translation of the Czech name of the military (Czech: Armáda České republiky) not supported by relevant official sources. Recent documents issued by the Czech Ministry of Defence in English (and cited in sources, namely The Czech Armed Forces Development Concept 2035 and Czech Armed Forces in 2022) use the term Czech Armed Forces. Similar example of such naming convention policy may be the Swiss Armed Forces (German: Schweizer Armee; French: Armée suisse; Italian: Esercito svizzero; Romansh: Armada svizra; lit. 'Swiss Army'). Oppose If I understand it correctly, Czech Armed Forces refers to Armed Forces of the Czech Republic not just Army of the Czech Republic. This could mean that the current redirect has an inaccurate target. Btw ngram shows that Army appears more often than Armed Forces. FromCzech (talk) 11:18, 18 June 2025 (UTC)- Czech Armed Forces does not refer to Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. To cite the Czech Armed Forces Development Concept 2035 (Koncepce výstavby Armády České republiky 2025, in Czech): "The Armed Forces of the Czech Republic (AFCR) have the key role for ensuring defence as part of the national defence system of the Czech Republic. The AFCR comprise of the Military Intelligence, the Military Police, the Military Office of President and the Castle Guard, and their principal pillar – the Czech Armed Forces (CAF)."
- Despite the ngram data, the term/translation "Army of the Czech Republic" does not appear in recent official sources. Mossback (talk) 17:33, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Theoretically, per WP:OFFICIAL, we are mainly interested in the frequency of occurrence in other sources. But it is true that other armies have their pages named after their official names, so I am willing to reconsider. With a possible move, it is necessary to consider merging Armed Forces of the Czech Republic into this page. FromCzech (talk) 18:33, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Note: WikiProject Czech Republic and WikiProject Military history have been notified of this discussion. TarnishedPathtalk 10:09, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- Weak support. I changed my mind, the official English title is probably better. It's a shame someone else didn't join the discussion. But after the move, Armed Forces of the Czech Republic really needs to be merged into this page. FromCzech (talk) 17:38, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
