In the description section, it gives the weight of one seed as 1.3mg (0.020g). That mg weight and g weight are not equivalent. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tangobango (talk • contribs) 16:54, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

What do chia seeds taste like? WordwizardW (talk) 21:07, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- That's a question for a Google search. The talk page is to discuss how to improve the article using WP:RS sources, and is not a forum or blog, WP:NOTFORUM. Zefr (talk) 21:41, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: not moved. (non-admin closure) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:47, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
– The seed is now a common and popular food worldwide, and it is the primary topic for "chia". Per 1Y pageviews, Chia seed received 60k monthly views, and all similar-named items in total around 68k (as expected, the cryptocurrency had a peak when it was at its prime). No such user (talk) 09:19, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not seeing any primary topic here. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:28, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- Based on what? The seed receives 88% (60/68) of all pageviews, and is a rather common food item. None of the towns is exactly prominent, and the cryptocurrency surely looks like a fad. No such user (talk) 14:58, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Chia seed is a distinct term well-established in common useage over the past decade. Its own article is justified. Zefr (talk) 17:04, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- Zefr And so? [1]. It is dwarfed by the search term "chia" by two orders of magnitude. Can you please engage with my argument that the seed is the primary use of "chia"? No such user (talk) 08:44, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose I don't think the seed should be primary over the article on the plant, Salvia hispanica. If the articles were merged (Sesame seed redirects to Sesame), I feel that would be the primary topic. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 20:20, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- The catch here is that S. hispanica is not the only species producing chia seeds – there is also Salvia columbariae. It seems that the latter is much less commercially important and referred to as "golden chia" when specificity is needed. Personally, I would support a merge since S. columbariae is of secondary importance; note, for example, that Malus domestica redirects to Apple while Malus sieversii, its wild ancestor, is a separate article. - Oppose. Chia seed is a WP:PTM, so the raw pageviews are meaningless. Run a WP:PPT test like I did for MSG and report back if the results support your position. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 21:51, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- You don't normally need to run such tests any more: https://wikinav.toolforge.org/?language=en&title=Chia. – Uanfala (talk) 22:20, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
I note that the fibre comparison chart uses ounces and cups. Given the international audience for Wikipedia and that 94% of the planet's population use the metric system, let's use only metric measures. Also, fruit vary in size. It would be helpful to give the weight of them. PB (talk) 13:24, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- I removed that table as WP:NOTEVERYTHING. The nutrition information, including the high content of dietary fiber, is clear from the USDA table and text. Zefr (talk) 15:48, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
Would seeds of Salvia Polystachia also be considered chia seeds and have similar properties to seeds from S. Hispanicus? 95.193.99.90 (talk) 09:36, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
EU labelling requirements of 15mg maximum have been superseded. There is no longer a limit statement required. NMNest (talk) 19:56, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
