Zeraoulia Rafik (born November 11, 1985) is an Algerian mathematician whose research focuses on chaotic dynamics, number theory, special functions, and their applications to control theory and encryption. He is affiliated with the University of Khemis Miliana.

Career and research

[edit]

Rafik earned a Master's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Batna 2 in 2021, where he received the national Best Master’s Thesis Award for his work on special functions in modern physics. He pursued a PhD in mathematical analysis and fractional dynamical systems at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Khemis Miliana. He also teaches mathematics at the Mourri Brothers High School in Batna.

His research interests include the intersection of chaos theory and number theory, particularly Landau–Siegel zeros, Montgomery’s pair correlation conjecture, and the Riemann Hypothesis. In 2024, he co-authored a paper in the European Physical Journal Plus on chaotic models derived from Dirichlet L-functions with applications in control theory.[1]

In 2025, Rafik was interviewed by the national broadcaster Radio Algérie about his approach to the Riemann Hypothesis using a dynamical systems framework.[2]

That same year, the Algerian news outlet Awras Press reported on his development of a new special function with applications in probability theory.[3]
