William Flower, 3rd Viscount Ashbrook was an Anglo-Irish peer.
He was born on 19 October 1767 at Shellingford Manor[1] at Shellingford, the eldest son, and second child of William Flower, 2nd Viscount Ashbrook and Betty Ridge.
He succeeded into the title on the death of his father on 30 August 1780, when he was 13 years old
He was educated at Eton, where he was at the time of his father's death. Also attending Eton from 1776 to 1783 was George Spencer Churchill, who would become 5th Duke of Marlbprough and whose sister, Caroline Spencer would marry Henry Ellis, 2nd Viscount Clifden. Henry's younger brother John Ellis Agar (1764-1797) would marry William's sister Harriet on 11 March 1797.
From July 1785 he studied at Trinity College, Oxford.
He Lived at Wadley Manor in Littleworth, while his mother continued to live at nearby Shellingford Manor.
He was a Captain in the Royal Berkshire Militia from February 1792 until November 1794
He sold Abercynrig Manor, Brecon in 1800 to John Lloyd, of Dinas, Llanwrtyd[2] The Manor had come into the Flower family through the marriage of William's Great great grandfather, Thomas (son of William Flower (Irishtown MP),and father of 1st Baron Castle Durrow) to Dorothea Jeffreys, daughter of John Jeffreys, whose family had owned it.
Death and succession
[edit]William died on 6 January 1802 at Wadley Manor.
As he died unmarried the title of Viscount Ashbook passed to his brother Henry.
