Brixton meetup next Monday 28 April

[edit]

Hello @Mccapra! Letting you know there's another Brixton meetup at Brixton Library next Monday 28th April at 6pm-8pm if you're nearby and free. We're going to look at #wmuk mini edits, music articles (and London music venues) and translating articles too - as well as anything else you might want to edit/learn/discuss with fellow wikimedians! Academic notability of Zaynab El Bernoussi

[edit]

Hi @Mccapra I have looked again at the academic notability guidelines. This article meets the criteria. Having been awarded by the highest academic body in the field of subject, having written a well-cited article on dignity which has won awards, is an editor of leading journal, appointed as the interim chair of a department in a research instutution. I removed references with trivial mention of subject. I've added a reference with substantial coverage. Please review. Twicebefore (talk) 01:48, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Mccapra:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in June!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 1 month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 June 2025 through 30 June 2025.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 3200 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Zaynab El Bernoussi new page academic notability

[edit]

Hi @Mccapra you tagged this article with academic notability issues.

Zaynab El Bernoussi is a Chair of Humanities Department at The Africa Institute ;

Has been awarded for her academic research work on the concept of dignity in the political science lexicon

Has been awarded by the International Political Science Association (IPSA) for the Global South award 2024 and will be delivering award lecture at theIPSA Congress in Seoul by July.

. Please help me understand how academic notability applies. Thank you Twicebefore (talk) 05:37, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

hi the basic criteria are at WP:NPROF and as an assistant prof she pretty certainly doesn’t qualify. She may qualify under WP:NAUTHOR if you can find enough independent reviews of her writing. Mccapra (talk) 05:45, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help.
I still perplexed how this qualification applies because the word professor informally refers to the collective academic ranks of assoiate, assistant professor or professor in the United States. Twicebefore (talk) 06:56, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No professor of any type is automatically notable, but an assistant professor is furthest away from reaching the bar. Mccapra (talk) 12:40, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
