The Bertha Stebens Charitable Foundation[1] is a charitable organization committed to improving lives and fostering meaningful change in Mason City, Iowa[2][3], and the surrounding Cerro Gordo county[4]. Its work is grounded in identifying the community’s most pressing needs and addressing them through targeted programs[5], grants[6][7], and partnerships.

History

The Bertha Stebens Charitable Foundation was founded in 1987[8]. Headquartered in Mason City, Iowa[9], the foundation strives to aid in the social betterment of the surrounding community.

The foundation is run by a team of trustees, Scott D. Brown (President), Greg C. Nicholas (Treasurer), and Todd A. Blodgett (Secretary).[10][11] Together, they oversee initiatives that involve financial management[12], grant allocation and partnerships.

Activities

Over the years, the Bertha Stebens Charitable Foundation has awarded many grants in the surrounding community. Just this past year (2024) they awarded $160,000 in grants. From funding $5,000 to the North Iowa Band Festival Foundation, to The Humane Society of North Iowa for $5,000 and to the Clear Lake High School for new CLHS Choir Robes in the amount of $3,000, as well as many more.[13][14][15]

The Bertha Stebens Foundation’s work is supported by a network of donors, volunteers, and community leaders who share its vision. Thanks to the leadership of its trustees and the support of the community, the foundation continues to drive change.[16]
