Telč is a railway station in the eastern part of the town of Telč in the Czech Republic, located on the line Kostelec u Jihlavy – Slavonice. It is one of two stations in Telč, the seond one is called Telč-Staré Město.
There are three tracks at this station.
History
[edit]The station was opened in 1898 as a part of the branching of the line Veselí nad Lužnicí-Jihlava, which had been in operation since 1887. In 1902, the line was extended to Waldkirchen an der Thaya. located in Austria.
The operators on this line were Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways (kkStB), then since 1918 Československé státní dráhy (ČSD), put under state control in 1925.[1] After closing of borders with Austria on 22th May 1945, operation from Slavonice to the south was stopped; since 2003 , there are efforts to restore the cross-border operation.
