It was intended to be one of the television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, via its Marvel Television label, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise.

Background

[edit]

Marvel Studios was revealed to have been developing a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series based on the Marvel Comics series Strange Academy (2020–2022) for the streaming service Disney+ in late February 2025, when development was paused. Amy Rardin, a writer on the Disney+ series Echo (2024), was working on the series, which was expected to focus on the character Wong as he leads a school for young people with magical abilities, but it had yet to receive an official greenlight. There was still potential for the series to come to fruition at some point, but Marvel Studios was prioritizing other projects at that time.[2] Development of a Strange Academy series had been rumored as early as January 2023, when it was expected to tie-in to the planned film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and feature Wong alongside Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez and the character Zelma Stanton, who was expected to first appear in the Disney+ series Ironheart (2025).[1]
