Sebastián Mejía Barberena (born August 1984, Cali, Colombia) is a Colombian‑American entrepreneur and investor. He is known for co‑founding the technology companies Rappi, Grability, and Tako, and for serving on corporate boards in Latin America.
Career
[edit]Mejía began his professional career at G2 Investment Group in New York, where he worked as an analyst. In 2013, he co‑founded Grability, a mobile‑commerce startup focused on supermarket solutions.[1]
In 2015, he co‑founded Rappi, one of the first “super apps” in Latin America. The company secured funding from major global investors, including SoftBank and Sequoia Capital.[2][3]
In April 2025, Mejía stepped down from his executive role at Rappi to focus on new ventures, while continuing to serve on its board of directors.[4] Later that year, he co‑founded Tako, a Brazil‑based startup specializing in AI‑driven payroll and human resources software.
