Oluwaseun Medayedupin (born April 26, 2001) is a Nigerian entrepreneur, technologist, and social impact advocate. He is the founder of SocioAfrica and SocioAsia, two intergovernmental organizations focused on digital equity, economic cooperation, and peacebuilding across Africa and Asia. He is also the chairman of Socio Technologies Limited.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Medayedupin was born in Nigeria and began his education at De Stars College before attending Inglewood Academy for his secondary education. He pursued a degree in Sociology and Criminology at Osun State University, where he developed a growing interest in technology, development, and pan-African advocacy.
Career
[edit]During his university years, Medayedupin launched SocioAfrica, a platform designed to bridge the digital divide across African communities by offering affordable internet access, digital literacy training, and access to educational devices. In the years that followed, he expanded the initiative through the creation of SocioAsia, mirroring the same efforts across underserved communities in Asia.
His work centers around digital justice, grassroots development, and cross-continental unity. Under his leadership, both SocioAfrica and SocioAsia have grown into recognized intergovernmental collaborations advocating for a digitally inclusive and economically cooperative Global South.
Medayedupin has been an outspoken supporter of the United States of Africa, the United States of Asia, and the development of a Central Bank of Africa and Central Bank of Asia, with the aim of fostering regional integration and financial independence.
Controversies
[edit]In November 2021, Medayedupin was arrested in Lagos, Nigeria, following allegations of involvement in a cybercrime scheme known as the "ransom your employer" attack. Reports suggested that Medayedupin had contacted disgruntled employees of American companies, encouraging them to carry out ransomware attacks on their employers' systems in exchange for a percentage of the proceeds. The scheme gained media attention, and Medayedupin's arrest was widely reported in news outlets, including Wired[1] and Krebs on Security [2]
According to reports, Medayedupin's scheme was a sophisticated social engineering tactic that involved emailing disgruntled employees with offers to help them exact revenge on their employers[3]. After his name appeared in the news media, he reportedly received thousands of inquiries from people interested in his idea. [4]
Medayedupin's arrest was a result of an investigation by Abnormal Security in August 2021, which uncovered his alleged involvement in the 'ransom your employer' scheme ⁴ ⁵. [5] [6] [7] [8]
Philanthropy
[edit]Beyond his professional ventures, Medayedupin has engaged in various charitable initiatives aimed at improving the lives of individuals and communities. His philanthropic work includes supporting education and healthcare projects in Nigeria.
Advocacy & Beliefs
[edit]Known for his anti-imperialist views, Medayedupin has been critical of Western dominance in African and Asian affairs. He advocates for peaceful multilateral development and emphasizes the importance of unity, education, and technological empowerment.
He has called for peace in global conflict zones, particularly urging diplomacy in regions affected by war, such as the Middle East and parts of Africa. He also encourages youth across continents to embrace digital tools, wave the flags of unity, and build a future free of division and violence.
Legacy & Recognition
[edit]Though relatively young, Medayedupin’s initiatives have reached thousands across rural and urban communities. His leadership is seen as part of a growing youth-led movement to create a digitally empowered, self-determined Africa and Asia.
