NBC Sunday Night Basketball is an upcoming American weekly broadcast of National Basketball Association (NBA) games on NBC and Peacock in the United States. It will begin airing in February of 2026, and will air after the conclusion of the National Football League (NFL) season. It will share similarities to Sunday Night Football with its coverage of games between the best teams in the NBA and an amplified production value.
Coverage
[edit]On July 23, 2024, NBC parent company Comcast confirmed in a conference call with its investors that NBC Sports had secured an agreement with the NBA on an 11-year media rights deal beginning in the 2025–26 season, marking the league's return to NBC after a 23 year absence. The agreement, which is valued at $2.5 billion per season, will see games broadcast on NBC and streaming on Peacock; NBC will have a Sunday night prime time game of the week package which would air after the conclusion of the NFL season and Sunday Night Football.[1][2]
In the announcement of the deal, NBC announced that their Sunday night games would be branded under the title of Sunday Night Basketball and would resemble the Sunday Night Football franchise with a high production value and teams with a high national draw.[3]
Scheduling
[edit]The first Sunday Night Basketball telecast is scheduled to debut in February 2026 on the Sunday after Super Bowl LV, However with the 2026 Winter Olympics happening along with that it might get moved to a later date.
