Submission declined on 23 May 2025 by KylieTastic (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. Michael Palumbo Ph D (born Jan 31, 1944-Brooklyn NY) historical researcher and author of books on war crimes. He discovered the files of the United Nations War Crimes Commission [UNWCC] in the UN archives as announced in an article by Robert Pear in the New York Times on March 28, 1980
[1] by posing as an aide to UN Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim who had a dossier in the UNWCC files.[2]
Only in 1987, under new rules, governments, scholars, researchers and journalist were allowed to examine all files in the UN archives without pledging secrecy.[3]
In November 1989 Palumbo was consultant and interviewee on a 2 hour BBC documentary, Fascist Legacy[4] on the UK cover-up of Mussolini’s genocide in Africa and the Balkans which received considerable press coverage in Italy.[5] Palumbo received thousands of death threats from Italian army veterans which suggested a comparison with the intimidation received by Salman Rushdie earlier in 1989.[6]
In 1992 Rizzoli Libri published "L'olocausto rimosso", his book on the cover-up of Fascist crimes in Libya, Ethiopia,Greece and Yugoslavia which was based on research in 10 languages.[7] Rizzoli was ordered by the government to shred all 8,000 copies.[8] After a recovery in 2020 of a copy that had evidently escaped the pulping[9] the book was published in Italy in November 2024 under the new title of "Le atrocità di Mussolini".[10]
