Draft:Manmath Kumar Badapanda

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: Fails WP:GNG and WP:ACAD: While the subject is a senior scientist affiliated with RRCAT and IEEE, the draft lacks significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. The current references (e.g., SiliconIndia, Vidwan, and IEEE event listings) are either directory-style, affiliated content, or self-submitted profiles and do not establish the subject's encyclopedic notability. Without in-depth third-party coverage such as news articles, peer recognition, or academic awards, the draft does not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for academics. Consider merging any notable contributions into broader topics like RRCAT or IEEE-related articles per WP:MERGE. --Warm Regards, Abhimanyu7  talk  15:15, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

Manmath Kumar Badapanda[1][2][3] (born 20 April 1966) is an Indian Scientist and an Electrical Engineer. He is a Scientist at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and currently serving is Head of its RF Power Supplies Section as well as Vice-Chairman of IEEE Madhya Pradesh Section[4] (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh), India.

He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE), Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) [FIE(I)] and Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Electrical Engineering (SMIEEE). He has received “Best Paper Award” in IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Expo (ECCE Asia-2025[5]) from IEEE PELS, “Research excellence award-2023” from The Institution of Engineers (India), “Technologist of the year award-2023” from IEEE India Council, India and four times "Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Awards for excellence in Science, Engineering and Technology"-2008, 2013, 2016, 2017 from the Secretary, DAE and Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India; etc. He has delivered more than 50 invited talks in India and abroad.

Early Life

[edit]

Manmath born on 20 April 1966, has completed his school education at Konark and intermediate education at Puri in Odisha. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from University College of Engineering (UCE), Burla, Odisha[6], in 1988, followed by Master of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in 1990 and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration in Marketing Management and International Trade, from the International Institute of Management Sciences, Kolkata[7], West Bengal in 1999 after completing one year project work at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore[8], Madhya Pradesh.

Career

[edit]

Manmath has over 32 years of R&D experience for advancement and development of solid-state modular power converter technology[9][10], having granted one US patent[11] and one Indian patent[12], developed new technologies & products and their technology transfers[13][14][15] to industries, delivered several invited talks in India and abroad and peer reviewed publications[16][17][18][19][20][21][22] including awards[23][24], fellowships [25]and recognitions[26] etc.

He has designed, developed and upgraded DC and pulsed power supplies [9][10][18][19][21][22][27][28][29]which are in 24/7 and 365 days of operations[30][31][32][33] at Indus-2 synchrotron radiation source at RRCAT Indore[30][31][32][33]. He is granted US patent No. 10027122B2[27] and Indian patent No. 436206[34], titled “High voltage DC power supply for high power radio frequency amplifiers” and this work is also published in IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics[10]. He has contributed towards design and indigenous development of solid state modular high current DC power supplies, incorporating active redundancies and hot-swappable features [14][18] for biasing high-power solid-state RF amplifiers.
