Mahboob Diwan Chopdar (Hindi: महबूब दीवान चोपदार), commonly known as MD Chopdar, is an Indian politician associated with the Indian National Congress (INC) in Rajasthan. He currently serves as the:

  • President, Minority Department, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (appointed June 2025)[1]
  • Chairman, Rajasthan Madarsa Board[2]

Early life and background

Chopdar was born on 21 April 1974 in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. His father, Haji Dr. Salaudeen Chopdar, was a noted social worker and philanthropist. Inspired by his father's work, Chopdar pursued higher education, earning degrees in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.).

He began participating in community service and student politics early in life. He is also an Ayurvedic entrepreneur, serving as Director of Rajasthan Herbals International Pvt. Ltd.[3]

Chopdar has over three decades of political experience within the Indian National Congress.

In 2024, his appointment as Chairman of the Rajasthan Madarsa Board was challenged and later revoked by the state government. The Rajasthan High Court later stayed the cancellation and upheld his position.[7]
