Kruti is an AI agent developed by an Indian startup Ola Krutrim, founded by Bhavish Aggarwal. Kruti was introduced in June 2025. It is India's first, domestically developed agentic AI which can perform tasks such as ordering takeout, paying bills, booking taxis, and creating images. Kruti can understand text and speech input, and can respond in 13 Indian languages. The system runs on a combination of Ola's proprietary Krutrim-2 and open-source LLMs.[1][2]
Kruti can be modified as per user demand, to proactively complete a given task.[3][4][5] It has built-in contextual awareness and memory function to provide suitable suggestions to users.[6][7][8] Kruti is a component of Ola Krutrim's larger work on the AI computing stack, which includes AI training and inference systems as well as foundation models.[9]
Background
[edit]Ola's Krutrim introduced the first public beta of Kruti in 2023.[4] It was officially released on 12 June 2025 with support for text and voice in 13 Indian languages, and is intended as an upgrade to passive chatbots. It can execute tasks, with customization and reasoning. Kruti provides adaptive answers based on user preferences and past interactions. Kruti is optimized for smartphone usage. It uses a combination of open-source and Ola's proprietary Krutrim-2 large language models, for scalability and economical performance, due to India’s bandwidth limitations and usage patterns. Kruti is context-aware, because of its integration with numerous apps and services.[1][2][5][9] Kruti uses speech recognition to identify regional Indian languages, dialects, and accents.[10]
As of now, only services within the Ola ecosystem are connected to Kruti. The goal of Ola Krutrim is to enable additional services from rivals like Blinkit, Swiggy, and Uber on Kruti with respective voice command support.[11] Kruti is part of the evolution in digital AI assistants, from simple response systems to task-performing proactive agents.[12]
Development
[edit]Kruti is designed to eliminate the app-switch fatigue. It can accept documents, images, and text as input.[13] It uses an agentic framework where individual agents work together either sequentially or concurrently to efficiently complete a user's request. When a query from the user gets submitted, Kruti creates smaller sub-tasks that are carried out via agent-to-agent protocols, with over 90% accuracy, for faster performance. Kruti can function both as a platform and an AI agent, which helps modify it as per need into domain-specific agent for diverse industries such as healthcare, education, and finance. With minimal help, it can reason, plan, and make decisions on its own to do tasks that are specified by the user. Ola Cabs and Open Network for Digital Commerce began implementing Kruti within their network. Kruti is undergoing additional reliability testing for cross-platform support and deployment.[14][15]
Kruti can connect directly with various company databases or APIs using model context protocol, to improve AI training and experiences. Kruti displays answers in the form of summaries, tables, or narratives by taking into account the usage patterns.[16] Kruti gradually learns user behavior, and can handle online payments using credit/debit cards or UPI.[17]
