Kohouket 4-55 (also known as K 4-55) is a planetary nebula located in the Cygnus constellation at a distance of 4500 light years from Earth. It was discovered by Lubos Kohouket, a Czech astronomer. It is being formed by a red giant star at the end of its life ejecting gas into space.[2][3]

Structure

[edit]

The nebula is multi-shelled which is rare for a nebula. The hot bright inner ring is surrounded by a bipolar structure and the entire system is surrounded by a faint red halo.[3]
