Joel Baumwoll. An advertising, marketing and business executive, the founder and chief executive of One World Explorer Productions LLC, a creator and marketer of digital tour guides.  He is one of the principals of Grand Penn Alliance,, a non-profit organization offering  a plan for rebuilding Penn Station and a newly located Madison Square Garden events arena.

Early life and education

Born in the Bronx New York in the era known as “baby boomers” to Marie and Harold Baumwoll, he has one sibling, Gene Baumwoll.  He grew up in Montclair and Rockaway New Jersey.  He was educated at Fairleigh Dickenson University (BA), New York University (Graduate studies in Social Psychology)’

Career

Baumwoll is the founder and Chief Executive of One World Explorer Productions, a company that creates, produces and markets a digital tour guide seen on cell phones and digital tablets by visitors to the One World Observatory located of the top floors of the World Trade Center.  Since its inception in 2014, the guide has been used by 2,205,000 people at the Observatory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDIN26yxbnw

The guide offers unique technology to show a zoom panorama of the city and virtual helicopter flights to major sites in the city.  In 2025, William Schatner, actor and well-known character “Captain Kirk” of Star Trek became the host of the digital program.

Before these positions, he was Chief Marketing Officer for Claremont Institute, responsible for all external communications of the Institute in print, on the web and via mail.  His mission is to communicate to members, donors and fellows the vital work done by the Institute in furtherance of its mission.

Prior to this position, Joel was president of Audits and Surveys, a worldwide marketing research company, vice chairman and president of Needham Harper and Steers advertising, (https://timesmachine.nytimes.com/timesmachine/1980/05/19/111242964.html?pageNumber=67) and executive vice president in charge of brand strategy research and U.S. media for the J Walter Thompson company.  He then opened BRAND DOCTORS, a strategic marketing consultancy.

Clients served by Brand Doctors include AARP, Nestle, GE, Hiram Walker, Bacardi, Colgate, HORMEL China, TJ Lipton, Chipita International ( Greece), Carnation, Center for the Advancement of Children's Mental Health at Columbia University, GE, Sandoz pharmaceuticals, Republic bank, Friskies pet foods, GHI, Oscar Meyer, National Coalition on Healthcare, La Vanguardia newspaper of Barcelona Spain, Yeshiva University, Seagram's, Morgan Stanley, Campbell Soup, Pasqua coffee bars,. Joel served as director and counsel to the American Cancer Society and the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health.

Baumwoll conceived and positioned the Amtrak Metroliner service, the largest revenue producer in the Amtrak system, now called the Acela. He developed the concept for Contadina of Buitoni refrigerated pastas and sauces for Nestle, Kibbles and Bits dog food, over 10 new range of entries for Herta, Nestles’ European refrigerated meat company, and FRIS vodka scandia a Danish distillers and Hiram Walker joint venture. He also advised the global food company on the development of their business in China.

He served as a director and adviser to a number of startup companies designed to exploit new technology these include Affinity Online and Internet service company, MP 3dom,, a web-based musical portal, a coupon list a web-based ecommerce commerce company, Edie Vanderbilt memories and direct marketer of apparel home furnishings and accessories.

Personal life
