İlker Furat (born February 10, 1982) is a Turkish boxing manager and promoter and the founder of 12 Raund Sports. Furat[1] has also worked as a boxing commentator and reporter for Turkish television since 2018. Furat has promoted and managed world champions and top fighters such as Deniz Kozig,[2] Burçin Çakır,[3] Sezer Olpak,[4] Dilara Yücel,[5] Cansu Çakır, Fatma Ay, Maria Cecchi, Shauna O'Keeffe,[6] Buse Uncu,[7] Ruslan Myrsatayev and Érica Farías.[8]

İlker Furat[9] is registered as a boxing manager[10] and promoter in Yenigün village of Kadirli district of Osmaniye.

Early life and education

İlker Furat was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He began his education at Dr. Tevfik Sağlam Primary School. He later attended Beyoğlu Fındıklı High School for middle school education.[11] He graduated in 1999 from Maltepe Küçükyalı Industrial Vocational High School. Between 2001 and 2003, he studied at the Osmaniye Vocational School, Çukurova University, in the Department of Electrical Technologies.[12] He earned a technician’s certificate in aircraft maintenance.

Sports life

His involvement within the sports industry began in the youth category at Galatasaray Basketball Branch in Istanbul. Additionally, Furat took part in many special tournaments while playing basketball at amateur level in teams such as Kurtuluş Spor Kulübü and Osmaniye Polis Gücü.[13]

Aviation career

In December 2004, Furat stepped into his professional career as an aircraft maintenance technician at MNG Technic. Here he worked actively until 2011. At this point in time, İlker set out to perform his duty in the Turkish military service. After working in Antalya at MATS Technic for a short period of time in 2013, he obtained a position at Turkish Technic. Currently, Furat continues to work as an aircraft technician at THY Technic.[1][14]

Furat took on the role of Press and Publication Secretary[15] in the 30th term of the Aircraft Technicians Association UTED.[16] Additionally, he has been a participant in numerous events and activities in the aviation sector. In this role, it is understood that involvement in the events,[17] as well as activities within the aviation sector is crucial.

Boxing career

In 2018, he started publishing on Instagram with the page 12 Raund Boxing and shared many topics related to amateur[18] and professional boxing[19]. This eventually reached the boxing audience with news that kept his finger on the pulse of the agenda. In 2019, he started to become a boxing manager[20] and worked with athletes from Turkey and many parts of the world and carried out PR activities. Furat also works as a commentator on Turkish Television channels TV8,5, Muğla Türk,[21] Sports TV[22] and Lider Haber TV.[23] He has worked with different athletes by providing matchmaking support to the organization in the Mega Fight Arena[24] event series. Avni Yıldırım is at the forefront of these.[25]

He received the "Digital Content Producer" award of the year at the Golden Gloves Awards[26] held in 2023. At the Golden Gloves Awards held in 2024, he received the "Best Boxing Channel" award of the year. [27] [28]
