Horacio Alberto Gennari (born December 12, 1953) is an Argentine-American businessman and media analyst, best known as the founder of BB Media, a media measurement and analytics firm with a focus on television and streaming content. Gennari has been involved in academic teaching and has contributed to marketing and broadcasting initiatives in Argentina.
Early life and education
[edit]Gennari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He earned a degree in marketing from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE). He later completed executive education programs at Boston College and Stanford University.[1]
Career
[edit]Early career and founding of BB Media
[edit]Gennari began his professional career at the industrial conglomerate Techint and subsequently joined Colgate-Palmolive Argentina, where he served as a marketing manager.[1]
In 1987, he founded BB-Business Bureau, later renamed BB Media, a firm specializing in data analytics for the television and entertainment industries.[2] The company expanded into global content monitoring and anti-piracy analytics, with operations established in Eastern Europe and the United States.
In 2014, Gennari stepped down as CEO, and the role was assumed by his son, Tomás Gennari.[3]
In February 2025, BB Media was acquired by Fabric, a U.S.-based media data company. Following the acquisition, Horacio Gennari remained involved as a senior advisor to Fabric's CEO Rob Delf.[4][5]
Public and institutional roles
[edit]In 2010, Gennari was appointed director of Argentina’s Fútbol para Todos broadcasting initiative. His role focused on managing and monetizing national broadcasting rights for football events.[1]
He has also served as vice president of the Argentine Marketing Association and held roles in the International Advertising Association (IAA).[1]
Publications
[edit]Gennari co-authored the book Poder y Comunicación: hacia una Argentina 3.0 in 2009 with political analyst Julio Bárbaro.[1] In 2021, he published De Tributos y Provocaciones, a collection of essays and opinion pieces on politics and media.
Awards and recognition
[edit]- Premio Mercurio (1998) – awarded by the Argentine Marketing Association for the international launch of Telefe.[1]
- Premio Mercurio (2022) – awarded to BB Media by the Argentine Marketing Association for excellence in marketing strategy and data services.[6]
