Early life and education

[edit]

Georgios Olympios was born in Greece. His father, Christodoulos Olympios, was also a civil engineer and served as a technical advisor to the German government in Greece. Olympios claims direct descent from Giorgakis Olympios, a hero of the Greek War of Independence in 1821.[6] He studied civil engineering in Berlin and later attended postgraduate programs in economics, political science, and business administration, with Executive training in Strategy and Decision Theory. Olympios studied Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, graduating in 1980.

In April 2013, Olympios accompanied the renowned Greek marathon runner Maria Polyzou during her visit to Litochoro and Mt. Olympus, highlighting his regional ties and cultural engagement in his ancestral homeland of Livadi Olympus and Litochoro.[7]

In November 2024, the Ambassador of Georgia to Greece, Levan Beridze, acknowledged Olympios' contributions in facilitating a diplomatic meeting with the Greek Minister of Rural Development and Food. In an official letter, Beridze expressed gratitude for Olympios' role in strengthening trade and economic relations between Greece and Georgia.[9]

Olympios is also mentioned in ELINEPA publications related to Greek-Indian cooperation in education and religious diplomacy, such as the canonization of Devasahayam Pillai.[10]
