Francesca Tassini (born 1979 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian writer and screenwriter known for her work in literature, television, and cinema. She has authored novels for adults, young adults, and children, and has contributed to various screenwriting projects. Tassini also works freelance as a story editor and editor for several major Italian publishers, and teaches screenwriting at the Civica Scuola di Cinema "Luchino Visconti" in Milan.[1]
Biography
[edit]Francesca Tassini was born in Milan in 1979. She studied screenwriting at the Civica Scuola di Cinema "Luchino Visconti", graduating in 2004.[2]
Since 2004, she has worked as a screenwriter, television writer, editor, advertising copywriter, ghostwriter, and story editor, particularly in the adaptation and development of serial projects.
In 2019, she began publishing fiction for adults, young adults, and children.
Literary Works
[edit]- Come mosche nel miele (2019) – A semi-autobiographical coming-of-age novel set in 1990s Milan, exploring themes of identity, adolescence, and self-destruction.[3]
- Snow Black (2020–2021) – A two-book duology telling the story of a teenager who finds herself trapped as a ghost in the Internet after attempting to solve a town mystery. The books were translated into Spanish and adapted into a live-action TV series produced by Rai Kids.[4]
- Canti del ferro (2024) – A dystopian novel co-authored with illustrator Daniele Serra, depicting a society where humans undergo mechanical augmentations, leading to a loss of humanity.[5]
- Arena (2025) – A weird-horror novel published by Zona 42, telling the story of a team of stagehands facing natural and supernatural occurrences, mental breakdowns, and a tragic death at work.[6]
- Nina e i segreti del taxi (2021) and Nina e il mistero del cervo bianco (2022) – Children’s books for ages 8+, blending elements of adventure and mystery.[7][8]

- Tra cinque minuti in scena (2012) – Co-writer of this film, which follows an actress managing her personal life while caring for her elderly, dependent mother. The film received several international awards, including the C.I.C.A.E. Art Cinema Award at Annecy (2012), FICE Best Independent Movie (2013), and Best Film at Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) in 2015.[10][circular reference]
- L'archivista (2011) – Writer of this short film set in Naples.
- Spighe (2009) – Writer of this short film, which won Best Original Screenplay at the Bra International Film Festival in 2008.[11]
