This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Ellen Ehk Åkesson, born in 1976 in Nybro, Sweden, is a Swedish artist known for her sculptures in ceramics, bronze, and glass. Her work is strongly influenced by the forest environments of her childhood in Småland, where she developed a deep fascination for nature and its organic forms.[1]
Education and Early Career
[edit]Ellen Ehk Åkesson studied ceramics at the School of Design and Crafts (HDK) in Gothenburg between 1997 and 2002, where she earned a master’s degree in applied arts with a focus on ceramics.[2]
During this period, she began exploring the boundaries between art and craft, which led to a transition from functional objects to more expressive sculptures.[3]
Artistic Development and Exhibitions
[edit]After her education, Ehk Åkesson established herself as a prominent artist in ceramics and bronze. Her works are characterized by an organic aesthetic often reminiscent of Art Nouveau's design language. The forests of Småland have become her laboratory, where she draws inspiration for her imaginative creations.
In recent years, Ehk Åkesson has had several notable exhibitions, including at Galerie NeC in Paris in 2024, where she presented the exhibition "I Remember a River".[4]
She has also exhibited at Berg Gallery in Stockholm and Galleri Anna H in Gothenburg.[5]
Collaborations and Public Works
[edit]Ehk Åkesson has collaborated with Kosta Boda, where she created art glass works such as "Berry Tales" and "Wonderland", inspired by her fascination with mushrooms and forest life.[6]
Her public artworks include sculptures outside the Police Academy at Södertörn University[7] and a bronze chair placed in nature by the shoreline in Gröndal, Stockholm.[8]
