Submission declined on 19 May 2025 by CoconutOctopus (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

He spent his early years with his mother and stepfather, a farmer and drugstore owner, while his biological father worked in London. He later moved to East London to live with his father, an experience that had a profound influence on his worldview and work ethic[3]
He attended Newham Sixth Form College from 2007 to 2009. Although he trained and became a licensed pharmacist at the University of Kent, his early passion for media, music, and storytelling led him to pursue various entrepreneurial and creative ventures outside the pharmaceutical field.
He also has a Master's degree in Independent Prescribing from Anglia Ruskin University.[4]
Music Career
[edit]Abaitey’s musical journey began in boarding school, where he developed an interest in music. In 2005, he moved to the UK, where he collaborated with other producers to fine-tune his craft.
Early in his career, he worked on a solo project, producing his own demos while honing his vocal and production skills. He began working in the UK’s famed KingsBeat studio, where he continued developing his musical identity.
Derrick co-founded the urban music group "Vibe Squad." Within two months, they released their first album, titled *Boo Yi*.[5]
The group garnered attention for its lively performances and the fusion of Afrobeat with UK urban sounds. By 2009, Vibe Squad performed at the prestigious UK "Ghana In The Park" event, gaining rave reviews.
Vibe Squad had hits like "Fabom" featuring Bisa Kdei, "Ariana", "On Da Lo" and more.[6]
In 2012, Derrick decided to embark on a solo career as DeeVS. He quickly became an established name in the UK Afrobeat scene, performing alongside renowned artists like Nigeria’s 2face Idibia and D’banj.
His solo career hit significant milestones with his highly anticipated single *Shine*, which was released on November 15, 2012. The track, known for its catchy hooks and motivational lyrics, became an anthem for those who had faced challenges but pushed forward. He received critical acclaim for the song’s positive message and uplifting tone.[7]
After "Shine", he released "Yebeko" featuring Bisa Kdei which also became mainstream for it's catchy lines and appeal.[8][9]
