Dr Ashwin Porwal (born c. 1975) is an Indian colorectal surgeon based in Pune, Maharashtra. He is the founder of Healing Hands Clinic and is known for his work in minimally invasive anorectal surgery.
Education and career
[edit]Porwal earned his MBBS from B.J. Medical College, Pune, and completed a DNB in General Surgery from Poona Hospital & Research Centre.[1] He founded Healing Hands Clinic in 2009, where he introduced surgical procedures such as Trans-Anal Rectal Resection by Circular Stapler (TRRPCS), laser hemorrhoidopexy, and Distal Laser Proximal Ligation (DLPL) for complex anal fistulae.[2]
Research
[edit]Porwal has authored multiple peer-reviewed clinical studies:
- A 2023 observational study reported positive outcomes of laser hemorrhoidopexy in 1,088 patients with Grade II–III hemorrhoids.[3]
- A 2018 case series in the International Surgery Journal outlined a novel laser stricturoplasty technique for managing post-STARR strictures.[4]
