Ability With Innovation (AWI) is an Iraqi construction and infrastructure company headquartered in Baghdad. Founded in 1970 by engineer Abdul Mahdi Muslim Tahir Al-Juboori, the company initially focused on civil and industrial construction projects in Iraq. Today, AWI operates across sectors including oil and gas, power generation, and infrastructure development.

History

AWI was established in 1970 by Abdul Mahdi Muslim Tahir Al-Juboori. In its early years, the company participated in various construction projects including schools, banks, and industrial facilities across Iraq.[1]

The founder's son, Abather Al-Juboori, currently serves as CEO and Chairman.[2] AWI expanded its operations to include infrastructure development, energy projects, and support services. In 2015, the company was awarded a contract by PAE Government Services to provide bulk waste removal services at the Baghdad Embassy Compound.[3]

In 2022, AWI, in collaboration with BL Energy, was commissioned by ExxonMobil Iraq Ltd. for the engineering, procurement, and construction up to commissioning support of the MOTD2 project at Degassing Station 6 (DS6).[4]

As of 2025, AWI has been recognized for its contributions to Iraq's reconstruction efforts and economic development. The company has been actively involved in employing and training Iraqi nationals, aiming to improve the national skill base.[5]

AWI has been involved in several large-scale infrastructure projects, including:

  • Al Safa Residential Complex Project – A mixed-use residential development in Basra consisting of over 2,500 apartment units and villas.[6]
  • Samawa Power Plant – A 250 MW simple-cycle power plant located in the Samawah Industrial Axis.[7]
  • MOTD2 Project at Degassing Station 6 (DS6) – AWI, in collaboration with BL Energy, was commissioned by ExxonMobil Iraq Ltd. for the engineering, procurement, and construction up to commissioning support of the MOTD2 project.[8]
  • Systems Completion PMC2 at West Qurna 1 Oil Field – AWI partnered with Kentech to provide multiple mechanical and piping works for the Systems Completion PMC2 project.[8]
