Catch is a brand owned by the DS Group,[1] operating in the Indian food and beverage industry.[2] As of April 2024, it was reported to be among the top five spice brands in India. The brand also announced plans to expand its presence in southern India. Its turnover was estimated at ₹1,000 crore in 2024.[3] Catch's product range includes salts, spices, herbs, bottled water, mixers, juices, and carbonated beverages.[4][5]

History

[edit]

Catch Foods was launched by the DS Group as part of its expansion into the food sector.[6][7] The brand was introduced in 1987 with a line of rotary top table salt and pepper sprinklers.[8] In 2000, the company expanded its product line with the launch of Catch Spices, which included whole and blended spices.[9][2]

Catch Spices initially adopted Low-Temperature Grinding (LTG) technology for processing spices.[10] The brand later implemented cryogenic grinding techniques, a method used to preserve the natural flavor, color, and aroma of spices during production.[9][11]

Over time, the brand expanded its portfolio to include blended spices, cooking pastes, whole spices, grinders, and iodized pink rock salt.[12][13][8] In 2023, the company introduced Kitchen Art, a sub-brand offering ready-to-cook gravies.[14]

Campaigns

[edit]

In 2013, Catch Spices launched the Zara Sa advertising campaign featuring actress Juhi Chawla.[9] That same year, Vidya Balan was appointed as a brand ambassador for the company.[15] In 2022, the brand updated its tagline from #Catch Ka Koi Match Nahin to #Kyunki Khana Sirf Khana Nahi Hota,[16] and introduced actors Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar as brand ambassadors.[17] A television commercial released during the same period featured Akshay Kumar and Kriti Kharbanda. In 2023, the company launched the #MaakaEhsaas campaign, along with another advertisement themed around Karwa Chauth ka Chand. In June of that year, DS Group introduced the #CatchTheRightBin initiative under the Catch brand to raise awareness about waste segregation and responsible disposal practices. In January 2025, the brand released two television commercials featuring actors Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav.[18]

Operations

[edit]

As of 2024, Catch's product portfolio includes over 125 variants across nine categories, with approximately 300 stock-keeping units (SKUs). The brand's distribution network reportedly covers around 700,000 retail outlets across India.[19]

Awards and recognition

[edit]

In 2024, Catch Foods received a Silver award in the Holiday, Seasonal, or Festival Marketing category at the e4m Indian Marketing Awards. The Maa Ka Ehsaas campaign was recognized with two Mobexx Gold Awards.[20] Catch Grinders received an India Star Award for Excellence in Packaging, and the packaging designs for Catch products were shortlisted for the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards.
