"Candidatus Altarchaeum" is a monotypic genus of ultra-small archaea. It contains the sole species "Candidatus Altarchaeum hamiconexum". It is in the monotypic family "Candidatus Altarchaeaceae", monotypic order "Candidatus Altarchaeales" and monotypic phylum "Candidatus Altarchaeota"[4].[5][6][7]
